IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Happy Veteran's Day and thanks for your service! The weather has such changed to fall. We had a few rainy and windy days, but most of the week has been nice so I have been able to get some leaves raked up. The nights are getting colder and we woke up the other morning to snow on top of Onion Peak. It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner.
We got all our clocks turned back for standard time and so we are trying to adjust to the hour difference. I think next year, the powers that be have decided to keep the clocks the same all year around. It's about time!
On one of the rainy days this week, Dave and I decided (okay, I decided) to clean out a few drawers in the bedroom. We have collected so much stuff that was either broken or we don't use anymore. We have all kinds of room in the drawers now!. Speaking of that, we have lost both sets of our post office keys! I have checked every jacket and pants pocket, drawers and both cars and they are just plain gone! Once, when we lost them, we found them in the post office box. But that was when we had both keys, so now I don't know what to do. I guess we will have to ask the PO to make us new ones. Also, after all these years, we closed our land-line phone. We were getting so many scam calls and we were just tired of it. So if you want to call us you will have to use our cell phones. My cell is (503) 812-2107 and Dave is (503) 314-2654. There is no more 6161.
Oh, we did have some excitement over the weekend, we watched our granddaughter, Paige play soccer. She is a forward and scored the last goal of the season for the team! She plays for Gonzaga University and we can stream the games from the college network to watch them play. Anyway, she has been playing more this year but still comes off the bench. That bothered her for awhile because she was the "star" when she was in high school playing soccer. Anyway, she decided that coming off the bench was really harder because she has to watch the players in the game so when she does go in she will know what's going on. She brings a lot of energy to the team when she does play. She sent us a video of her goal.
Well, the election is over (thank God) and Dave was elected to the Wheeler City Council. He has mixed emotions about winning. There were three city council positions open with six people running. The other two persons who won have different opinions about how to run the city than he does. Between all the council members, he will be a minority as far as progressive thinking goes, so it is going to be frustrating for him. Why did he decide to run? He is asking himself the same question, but the previous council members were biased and not very qualified and he just couldn't see our town not getting anything done. So, he's now committed to four more years on City Council.
On a happy note, I can't believe the holiday cactus is in full bloom and that crazy Easter Lily doesn't know its fall, not spring! But I will take whatever I can get when the sun doesn't shine and the rains come down.
Last week, Dave had a photo of the sunrise that he had taken. This week, he got a shot of the moon setting a little before dawn.
Take care and have a nice week!
