IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Not much happening this way. Between the rain and wind all week, I am back to raking the leaves once more! I guess I should wait until Mother Nature has toned it down a little before I do anything. The only problem with that is that all the leaves get into the house somehow. The weather folks are predicting a lot of wind and as much seven inches of rain here over the weekend, so there really isn't much incentive to do anything until that stops. Wasn't it summer just a couple of weeks ago?
We had to get up early on Monday as Dave had a VA appointment in Portland at 9:00 a.m. Since it is a two-hour drive from the coast, we had to leave our house before 7:00 to make it to his doctor appointment. It was still dark and rainy out and of course there was traffic. On the way in, we were in stop-and-go traffic approaching downtown Portland and we got rear-ended while we were stopped. Thankfully, no one was injured. But it was a hard hit anyway although you'd never know if by looking at the Jeep. The damage was hardly noticeable on the car bumper. But, we took the other driver's information and filed an accident report just the same. We still made it to the doctor appointment at the VA on time but then we found out the doctor wasn't there because she had a sick child at home. So, we talked to her on the phone. We could have stayed home and called her and it would have saved us a lot of time and trouble. Anyway, Dave's PSA level has started to rise again and she wants to wait another two weeks for him to get another PSA test before we can move forward. A few weeks ago, Dave's PET scan showed that the cancer has spread, so if he can get started with this next treatment pretty soon, it would help. He feels like a lab rat with all the experiments that he has undergone, but as he says, a fortunate lab rat!
We took our daughter, Lara out to lunch for a late birthday celebration while we were in town that day. She had her wedding pictures with her, so we looked through them and chose the ones that we wanted. All the pictures were great and there were so many to choose from - hundreds - but we settled on a few.
I hope you had a nice Halloween. All was quiet here, not a ghost or goblin anywhere. That is not unusual for us though, I usually don't even buy any candy, but I do miss seeing all the costumes though.
We are fortunate that we get to watch many of our granddaughter's soccer games on TV. They are fed using the computer and we love to watch her play. But this past week, the game wasn't telecast on the university system, it was on one of the ESPN channels instead. Unfortunately, it is one we don't get in our cable package. So, we missed getting to see her play this week. Leslie gets that channel and was watching at her house, so she was texting us with the play-by-play. Paige had two scoring chances, but both were blocked by the goalie getting a finger on the ball at the last second. There's only a couple more games this season, so I hope we're able to see those.
Dave's happy, I'm happy. A couple of weeks ago he had to send his hearing aids out to the VA to be repaired, so he had to drag some ancient ones out - just so he could hear. There's a reason those old ones were put out to pasture. He had to get some tape and stick them back together just so he could use them. His "new" ones came back in today's mail and now everybody is happy!
I hope you have a great week.
