IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
It's been another week under our belts and a lot quieter around here. The weather is slowly changing; we are having nice sunny days and cooler nights. There has been some fog in the mornings but once that goes away, the sun makes its appearance.
My garden is done for the year and I still have to pull up some dead plants and put it to bed for the winter. There wasn't much of a garden to shout about; we had such a rainy spring that most of the vegetables I planted didn't have much of a chance. Oh well, there is always next year!
After we had the stair lift installed, they took down the railing on one side of the stairs, so we decided to put it back on the wall. But first of all, I wanted the railing refinished as it was in bad shape; the stain on it had been worn off and it just needed a clean-up. So we gave the job to our friend and handy-man Ray, who refinished it and hung it up for us. It looks like new again!
The railroad crew has been working on the train tracks and trestle in front of our place for most of the summer. The trestle wasn't safe for the trains to go over, so they completely rebuilt it. Anyway, they finally finished the project - just in time for the old steam trains to make their appearance. They do a photo-op each fall and train enthusiasts come from far and near to take photos as it chugs down the tracks right in front of us. It is quite a sight to see.
We are headed into the valley today. Our daughter, Lara is getting married on Saturday and we will spend the night with our other daughter, Leslie who lives in West Salem. The wedding will take place in Canby in a quaint little chapel. We are going to help set up for the reception this afternoon and then all of us will go out to dinner tonight. Kevin (Lara's fiance) broke his little toe last weekend, so he will be in a boot and probably hobbling down the aisle. We will have pictures next week.
Well, that's all the news my way; hope you have a great week!
