IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Lots of company this week, Jadyn and her father came down together as she was bound and determined to drive her van home this week. She and her grandfather have spent the past three months converting it into a camper. She has a little bit more work to do on it, but between G-Dad and her father, they got it good enough to drive it home. But it's 99% done, so off it went. They left on Wednesday. Jadyn has a few more things to do before she takes it on a camping trip at the end of the month, but she can do those things at home.
On Thursday, Dave's cousin Dennis came down to help Dave with the steamboat. It too has some work to be done and with Dennis here to help, they should have it running. They got too busy to remember to take a picture, so here's one from when Dennis was here a couple of months ago. They will haul the boat out of the water and get it cleaned up for the annual steam meet which is in Cathlamet, Washington in a couple of weeks. It has been docked at Kahrs' Wharf for a couple of weeks, just long enough for barnacles to collect.
I have been busy feeding company and working around the house. We have had some really nice sunny days and I picked my first tomato and green beans from the garden this week. It sure tastes better from your own garden.
Our granddaughter, Paige will start the fall soccer games at Gonzaga next week. We won't be able to go to all of her games but we can stream the games we can't go see off the internet. We are looking forward to watching the games and hope she gets to play more this season.
Next week, we have a really busy schedule. Dave has an appointment with his oncologist on Monday. He finished up with his chemotherapy treatments a couple of weeks ago but his cancer is still active and so we will find out what is next for him. We are also attending his Benson High School 60+2 class reunion luncheon on Tuesday. He's on the reunion planning committee and they have been trying to hold this 60th reunion for two years. It was delayed by Covid. The problem is that in that two years they lost a lot more classmates, so there will be less than 50 at the luncheon and half of those will be spouses. Anyway, we will stay in town at Lara's Monday night. It will save us from running back and forth from the coast to Portland.
on two consecutive days. Gas prices are dropping, but they aren't THAT low!
That's all the news from our way. Hope your summer is going well.
