IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

All our energy has been focused on getting the steamboat ready for the 4th of July parade this week. I got all the lanterns and other brass shined and Dave is buffing the copper supports that hold up the canopy. I also cleaned the aluminum deck plates. So, what is left to do, you ask? The boat needs to be washed on the outside and I can't climb up on the edge of the boat to wash the top of the canopy. I will leave that for the kids to do when they come down. The theme for the parade this year has to do with getting back together after Covid. It's a pretty vague theme, so we will be waving our Covid masks as we go by.

Sunset The weather has been so nice down here. In fact, now I am complaining that it has been too hot! But the sunsets have been really beautiful. I have been so busy with the boat that the yard work has been set aside. I found a weed the other day that was taller than I am! I hope that after the holiday, I will be able to get back on schedule. My right hand has still been bothering me so I am trying to give it a rest too.

There has been sighting of a bear in the neighborhood. The neighbors up the street have seen signs - in fact, the bear tore into one neighbor's trash can - but I haven't seen any where we are. Those folks live up the hill, closer to the woods, and the bears haven't ventured down our way at the bottom of the hill. We lock up our garbage can, but if the bear is hungry enough, that won't stop it!

I have spent most of my indoor time these past few days calling around to all the drug stores in the area to see if anyone can help fill a prescription for me. Apparently, the supply for this particular medication can't be found anywhere! I have checked all the pharmacies close to us and nobody has the medication in stock! It is for Dave and his restless legs. My only option is to call the doctor and see if there is another medication that Dave can take.

Well, that's the news - such as it is. Stay tuned for more pictures next week from the parade and Independence Day.

(Editor's note: She didn't mention it, but Jan has a birthday coming up on Saturday. A rather monumental one at that. I can probably stay out of trouble - now that I have mentioned the birthday - if I don't mention a number associated with that birthday!)

Meanwhile, have a safe and happy 4th of July!
