IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Well, here we are in June and as far as I am concerned, spring hasn't even arrived yet and summer is just around the corner. When the sun does come out, I try to do some weeding, but it sure is a lost cause. I am only good for about 2 hours and the way I am going, I will be at it for awhile!
While I was weeding the front by the sidewalk, I came across a quarter that I found in the dirt. My big tip for the day! You never know what you are going to find down by the sidewalk. It is right on Highway 101 and the cars are whizzing by so fast that I try to avoid that job of weeding, but it does make it look nicer.
I had to take Dave down to the ER last Friday because of what they diagnosed as a bladder infection. They did a CT scan and gave him some antibiotics and some pain pills. They didn't do much good so he was back to see the doctor on Thursday. She doesn't think it's what they diagnosed, but whatever it is, his chemo treatment has been postponed for a week. I sure hope his new prescription (when they finally figure out what's wrong with him) works this time.
Jadyn was back on Monday and Tuesday, still working diligently on her camper/van. She and Granddad are making progress and they are starting to feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel. They got a couple of the drawers built and in place this week. While Jadyn was here she helped G-Dad gather up the flags after Memorial Day. They had some other helpers so it didn't take them long.
Our weather was beautiful for the first part of the week and while Jadyn was here, she took a stroll on the beach and took a picture of the sunset. It is nice having her come down every week.
Leslie and Jason were also down last weekend. They didn't bring the dogs, for which the cat was grateful. Leslie crawled up into the attic to see what treasures she could find and she came down with some old handmade quilts that Dave's great aunt Lillian had made. The quilts have been up in the attic for a long time, unknown to us. They are really nice and we will keep them for the girls. Before they left to go back home, Leslie and Jason went clam digging at Ft. Stevens and got their limit.
Also, Dave's nephews came by this weekend. We had dinner and a nice visit with them. Dean lives in Seattle and he came down to Portland for his mother's interment. Leanna passed away in April but the cemetery was so back-logged that they couldn't inter her until last week. So Dean took his brother Luke back to Seattle with him for the week and brought him home to Wheeler on Sunday.
This weekend the Rose Festival's Starlight Parade will be in Portland. The broadcast people wanted to get all of the old-timers together and they are all going to be in the parade. It will be a chance for Dave to see some of the people he used to work with and he is really looking forward to seeing everyone. It is also suppose to rain but Dave will be in an open bus so hopefully he won't get too wet.
Speaking of parades, they are not going to have a 4th of July parade in Manzanita this year, so we are taking our steamboat to the parade in Rockaway Beach instead. Lots of things to do to get ready for that.
Well, that's my news. I hope all is well your way.
