IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
It's not really Friday because we are gone for the weekend. We are headed up to Spokane early Friday to catch a couple of pre-season soccer games that Paige is playing in at Gonzaga (Go Bulldogs). There will be about 8 of us, so we rented a house to fit all of us. The cost for a room at the Best Western skyrocketed, so we decided to try the AirB&B for about half the cost.
This week we started out with a heavy winds (45-50 mph) and thundering rains, enough to knock out our power in the middle of the night. But, by the time we got out of bed in the morning, the power was back on! So we spent some time clearing debris and setting our park bench and sundial back up. The wind had blown them over. We knew the storm was coming, so we gathered up the flag, wind chimes and whatever was loose that we could find. Unfortunately, we forgot the fancy house number that Leslie had made for the apartment and now it's pretty well trashed. I'm going to have to lean on her for a replacement.
On Wednesday, my new "white" refrigerator was finally delivered. But, as you can see from the photo, it isn't really white. Half of it is, but the sides and top are black! Not what I had in mind when I ordered it. We accepted the delivery because we need a refrigerator, so now we have to figure out how to make it look good. Dave thinks he can solve the problem with a can of white spray paint, but I'm not quite ready for that yet! And the color wasn't the only problem either. When we ordered it, we had to make sure the width was exact because it goes into a narrow space in the cabinets. Sure enough, it's an eighth of an inch wider than the specs said it was and so of course it doesn't fit. We'll tackle that problem Thursday before we leave for Spokane, but for now, it's sitting in the middle of the kitchen. All in all, even with the wrong color and the wrong size, I have my new refrigerator and so I am happy. Anyway, before it was delivered, I had to empty out the old frig so they could haul it away. I had coolers full of food and ice all over the kitchen for a while. And also - I don't know what one has to do with the other - but since I was emptying out the refrig, I decided the oven needed cleaning. So, I got that cleaned also.
We have been sleeping downstairs in the guest bedroom because Dave put our new king-size bed frame together and of course our old queen-size mattress doesn't work on that bed frame. We haven't heard when the new mattress will be delivered (it's a Saatva and they don't start building it until it is ordered) but Dave wanted to be prepared because it sounds like there won't be much warning when they are finally ready to deliver it.
I went into Freddies this week because their Fuchsia sale begins this Saturday and I won't be in town. I usually try to get them early as to avoid the rush. I also picked up a couple of geraniums for my deck pots.
Best close for now, I hope all is well your way! I should have lots of photos from our trip in next week's Journal.
