IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Spring is definitely here! Here it is the first of April already and April is acting her usual way, sometimes sunny and sometimes showers. We really love this time of year when everything wakes from a long and dreary winter. The flowers and trees begin to bloom and the grass turns green again.
Leslie Of course, that means the grass grows too. I've already had the lawn guy here to give the grass it's first cutting and some fertilizer too.

We had a mostly quiet week with just the usual happenings.

As I mentioned last week, our daughter Leslie came down last Thursday and painted my bathroom. She stayed the weekend and got a lot of projects completed for us. One of the things Dave had her working on was a mechanism that will retrieve balls from his Pachinko machine and get them ready to be played again. He has been working on this 'invention' for two years, so he drafted Leslie to help get it finished. In this photo, she's working with an uncooperative pop-riveter to make part of the machine. We'll see how it turns out.

Dave Did I mention that we bought a king-size bed? It was Dave's idea, but I went along with it. I think we have been sleeping in too many hotel King beds lately and we got spoiled. Well, the bed "parts" came on the UPS truck the other day and so Dave and I have been putting it together as best we can. One of the things we had to do was to move all of the furniture in the bedroom around so that the extra width in the King would fit on the wall. The wall where we had the old bed wouldn't have had enough room. That was one of the things we had Leslie help with while she was here last week. We have ordered the mattress and foundation, the bedding and new skirting for the new bed and of course new lamp shades for the lamps on the bed stands. Everything has to match the gray theme.

Jake, L Jake, L Our granddaughter, Jadyn came down with her friend, Lauren to spend the night and do a little shopping and beachcombing. They were on the move most of the time but when they were here it was a joy to visit with them. Beginning in a couple of weeks, Jadyn plans on coming down here with her van each week as she wants Grand-dad to help re-do the inside so she can use it for camping.

We hope to get our taxes filed soon as we finally got the "amendment" to one of our forms. The investment company always sends the form in February with "an amendment to follow" which usually comes about the first of April. So, that is why we wait until April to file our taxes .

I noticed that the weeds are starting to rear their ugly heads, so I need to get out in the yard and get them under control. The peas that I planted haven't ventured out of the ground yet, but I only planted them a week ago. I have been saving my egg shells and coffee grounds to use in the tomato patch as soon as the weather gets warmer so I can plant them. There is a lot of nutrition in egg shells and I heard that coffee grounds are good too. So I thought I would give it a try.

Dave has been busy working on his projects. The electric train in the Cave is working well and he and his friend Jim have been building a scale model of our steamboat. He has also been able to work on a project for the girls for Mother's Day. I won't mention what it is, as both the girls read the journal and I want it to be a surprise. Although Leslie is going to have to help me with the "lettering" on the project, so I did have to tell her.

Well, that's the news my way, take care and have a nice week!
