IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Sorry this is a day late. We had some illness in the family that affected the date this is normally posted.
We hope everyone had a nice holiday. So starts another year.
We drove down to Salem last Wednesday afternoon and celebrated our Christmas with the family. On the way down, we were coming into Tillamook when the Ford's tire sensor came on with a message of a "low pressure" in one of the tires. Since we were close to Les Schwab, we decided to have them check it out before we traveled on to Salem. As it turned out, it was a good thing. They found a piece of metal stuck in the tire so after removing and patching the tire, two hours later, we were on our way to Salem. It was a lucky break as we could have been stuck out in the boonies on our way with a very flat tire. As it turns out, we were doubly lucky, because no longer had we returned home than it went flat again. This time, Dave ordered a new set of tires and they will be here on Saturday.
We made it to Salem just before dark and enjoyed our late Christmas celebration. Jason and Leslie fixed salmon for dinner and then we opened presents. We got some very nice things, including a new coffee maker, a calendar of last year's events, and some handmade pottery from our granddaughter, Jadyn.
We spent the night and Leslie drove us home. The tire held air at least until we got home. Leslie drove as Jason had left earlier to go Steelhead fishing at the hatchery on Highway 53 past our place. He later came by (no fish) and picked up Leslie at our house and they headed to Warrenton to go clam digging while the tide was still out. They did manage to get a few clams. They show up as red in this photo because the sun was shining through the red bucket.
Our New Year's Eve was uneventful. In fact, I was in bed by 10:00 but woke up at midnight with the sound of fireworks! Luckily, the cat had decided to spend the night indoors, so he wasn't frightened by the noise.
On Sunday, Dave woke up with uncontrollable shaking. He could hardly talk, so we went to the emergency room in Tillamook. After two blood tests and a brain scan, they ruled out a stroke. The doctor eventually decided that he was on too many medications and it was a reaction from that. So to be on the safe side, they admitted him to the hospital where they took him off all his meds so they could find out why he was having this reaction. They finally got it figured out and he was released on Tuesday. He has been okay, but it was scary. He continues to be very depressed and had been in bed for three days. He finally got up on Thursday and had breakfast with me. The doctor cut back a lot of his "restless leg" medication which his body was reacting to with the chemo that he has been on. We'll see how that works out.
While we were in Salem with the family, we found out that Paige showed positive to Covid, which meant that we all had been exposed. Lara's girls came up positive after that but so far, we have not had any symptoms. But to be on the safe side, we have self-quarantined ourselves for 5 days. We haven't had any symptoms, so I guess we dodged the bullet! The girls all seem to have just a bad cold and being cooped up together has been the worst! I told Lara to keep all sharp objects away from them, so they don't kill each other!
It has been pouring down rain and windy here at the coast. We even had some snow, but it is all gone. I wish it would stop raining.
I managed to go to my water aerobics class at the pool. I did some warm-up exercises and then got a swimming board and did some laps. It sure felt good to be back in the water once again. I go back to physical therapy again for six more weeks. I am still having a few problems but am improving. And no sooner did the pool re-open than they closed it again because of Covid. We can't win!
Well, that's all my news. I hope all is well your way!
