IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!
All's well that ends well. I had my knee replacement surgery on Monday. We had to report to the hospital at 6:30 a.m. I didn't get much sleep the night before, so I was ready. It was quite a procedure, as there was a lot of arthritis in the joint and I had a cyst on my kneecap the doctor removed as well. The cyst was from the fall I had taken in March when I fell over the dishwasher lid and landed on the knee. After the surgery, I was wheeled into recovery and then to my room. I didn't get much sleep that night either with nurses coming in and taking vitals or drawing blood. I finally took some Oxycodone and that did the trick; I slept all day and night. The doctor made me stay an extra day, so it was Wednesday afternoon when I finally came home. I stayed in bed the rest of that day, but by Thursday, I felt like camping out in my recliner in the living room. Leslie came down and helped me for a few days and that was much appreciated. Lara will relieve her on Friday. I think each day is getting better.
We have had a lot of rain and flooding this week. While I was in the hospital, we even had thunder and lightning which made things exciting. The way things lit up on one lightning episode, we're pretty sure the hospital building was hit. We also had King Tides with a lot of flooding going on. I am sure glad I don't have to go anywhere anytime soon. We were in Manzanita and drove by the beach to check out the high surf. With the high tide, the big waves were almost breaking against the edge of the street. The picture doesn't do it justice, but those waves at the top are about 20-feet high! Pretty amazing to watch.
Last weekend we were invited to Dylan's home for dinner. He works at the local lumber yard and has been friends with Dave for several years through that connection. He wanted us to come over for dinner and meet his family. There's 50 years difference in our ages, but we found enough common ground to make it an enjoyable evening.
We also had tickets to see the Sunday matinee of "Steel Magnolias" that was staged by the local theater company. While we were there, we also checked out the new lobby that was recently completed. The one thing the theater lacked was a proper lobby and convenient restrooms. It has both now. The play was beautifully done and the players did a good job. We're so glad we went.
Oh, and then we had to turn all our clocks back because of Standard Time. I wish they would keep it one way or the other. It is always such a bother to move the clocks either back or forward. I think we have them all set - more or less - at the same time now.
Yesterday was Veteran's Day and Dave and his crew put up flags around town. Rain or shine they always get put out for Veteran's Day. It was dry when they put them out Thursday morning, but it was pouring rain when they picked them up that afternoon. Dave came home soaked to the skin and between Leslie and me we got him out of his wet shoes and socks so he wouldn't get sick.
That's about all that's been happening around here. I hope everyone has a great week!
