IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Collage

We made it back from Denver on Sunday and spent the night with Lara in West Linn. Then we arrived back home on Monday and it sure felt great to be back and to be able to sleep in our own beds again. We had a great time visiting my sister, Jeanne and her husband Bob. They left the same day we did for the UK for a month, so it was a little hectic around their place the last day with everyone getting packed.

One of the things that we did was watch all the dogs in their subdivision go swimming in the community pool. That's Jeanne in the blue with their dog Emma. Before they close the pool for the year, they invite all the dogs in the neighborhood to go for a swim. Emma however, did NOT want to get wet! The rest of the dogs had so much fun swimming and retrieving balls and they got pumpkin cookies as a treat. Then after that, they drained the pool and cleaned the filter. So much fun!

Dinner

56

While we were in Denver, we celebrated our 56th wedding anniversary. That evening, we went out to eat at the Longhorn Steak House and invited Jeannie and Bob to join us. The steak was excellent and we had a wonderful evening. When we got home, Dave made a road sign showing "56" and took our picture. We got that idea from some friends and have done it every year for the past several anniversaries.

After we got home, it was time for unpacking and washing clothes. The cat did just fine and our tenant Carrie took real good care of him. He got stuck in the house overnight a couple of times and that freaked him out, but she was there in the morning to let him out.

Juan

Our good friend, Juan showed up on Tuesday to finish painting the steamboat. He did a really nice job and Dave was pleased with the finished product. Hopefully, the paint won't chip off when he takes the pressure washer to it to remove all of the barnacles next time he pulls the boat out of the water.

While I have been home this week, I got outside and did some pruning and weed pulling in the yard. I also cleaned out my vegetable garden and the only thing left are the carrots. Things are looking pretty dried up around here and we are supposed to get some hard rain this weekend. I sure hope so, as I am tired of watering.

Dave has spent most of his time on the computer since we got home. He was appointed as the treasurer of the local historical society just before we left and has had to try to figure out the files left by the previous treasurer. In addition to that, we were informed that the Trail Blazers will begin broadcasting their road games once again, beginning in October. Dave has been taking care of the production responsibilities for those broadcasts and after missing a year because of COVID (the announcers did not travel last season), it's nice to be able to work those games again. There's a lot to do in a short period of time, so he's pretty much been stuck at the computer getting ready.

That's all my news, hope all is well your way.
