IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
May has almost come and gone and most of May was a throwback to April with mostly rain. I thought we were going to have a "dry" spring.
We had to drive into Portland as Dave had lab works and an appointment with his oncologist to go over the lab work. The labs were at 1:00 and then the appointment was at 2:00. After the labs we had time to grab a sandwich at the canteen before our appointment with the doctor. As it turns out, the doctor's appointment was via telephone and there wasn't need to stick around. We should read our instructions better. Anyway, we headed home and got close to the "no-reception" area approaching the foothills of the coast range. We pulled over along side of the road and waited for her call. She called, but the news wasn't good. Dave's PSA level has risen from last March and so he has to have a CT scan to see what's going on. The medication that he has been taking has worked pretty well and had been keeping his PSA level down, but I guess the cancer has other plans. Keep Dave in your thoughts.
As I mentioned, the rain came back this week so the only good day to work in the park was Wednesday. We had two of us show up to pull weeds. I get a little frustrated as it is going slow and I think we need to either work a little harder or put in two days a week. Some of the beds had started to get weeds again (mostly grass) and if we don't get the roots to the grass, it just grows again. But some of the workers don't do that and they get frustrated when the grass comes back. Dave wants me to "retire" from maintaining the parks but it's so hard because I don't know who would step up and I know if nothing gets done, the weeds will take over. I have enough work to do around my own place that I have been ignoring because I no longer have the energy to keep up with my yard AND work in the park.
Our renter is working out really nice. She has a dog who I never hear and besides, she takes her to work with her when she leaves each day. (I wish another neighbor up the street would keep their dog from barking all the time, it is really annoying.) Anyway, I was discussing with Dave that we should really get the deck built so Carrie doesn't have to go through the make shift stairs that he built for her. I know she would appreciate it.
We had our City Manager over for dinner last night. She needed to get together with Dave on another matter and we asked her to stay and share the meal. We enjoy her company and the time passes quickly when she visits. We enjoyed having here here.
We are looking forward to our granddaughter's wedding in July. Ashtin got her wedding dress the other day and it has to be altered because she has lost weight. The bridesmaid's dresses have arrived and the tux's have been ordered. They are getting married at a Vineyard and I hope she has great weather. She will be moving to Florida after the wedding because that is where her husband will be stationed. Austin is in the Air Force and it sounds like he likes it pretty well and plans on making a career out of it. So they will be moving a lot. We will miss her very much.
Well, that's the news at our end. Have a nice Memorial Day.
