IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
We had a nice time celebrating with our family for the Easter holiday and Jadyn's 18th birthday.
It was kind of different this year, since everyone had so much going on that we couldn't be together on Sunday for Easter. So we improvised and did our celebrations early. We had our birthday/Easter on Thursday last week. Jadyn's birthday was actually Saturday and of course Easter on Sunday. But you have to bend a little bit sometimes in order to get everyone together at the same time.
We needed to go down to Salem on Friday as Dave wanted to get the deck material for the church. Our last big project to complete before it is done. Friday, Paige had gotten us tickets for the U of O soccer game against Utah in Eugene. We were hoping that she would be given the chance to play, but it didn't happen. The game ended in two overtimes in a draw, so that was disappointing. After the game we went over to see Paige's apartment. She is a Freshman but no one is living on campus with this Covid thing. It was really nice and she has a real nice roommate. Then we went for pizza before we returned to Salem to spend the night at Leslie and Jason's,
While we were in Salem, Leslie has been waiting for the opportunity for her father to help her put up some new lights over the kitchen bar. She has had them since they moved in last fall, but hadn't had us around long enough to help her with that project. The lights turned out pretty good and it is an improvement over what was there before.
Ashtin was home and she had to show us her graduation cap and gown. She will be graduating in a couple of months from Western Oregon University and then in July will be getting married. Meanwhile she has been "student teaching" and finishing up on her classes. It's a busy time for her with a lot going on.
I went to the doctor on Tuesday so he could look at my knee. It has been really swollen since I fell and injured it. He removed a couple of vials of fluid from it (looked about the size of a softball prior to that) and after removing all that fluid, it looked like an deflated balloon! He also gave me a steroid shot but told me that the knee might retain more fluid - and it has. I have been icing it and wearing compression gear on it.
As I mentioned earlier, the church is almost complete. The front door has been framed in and Dave pulled out the Juniper bush that was in the front so that he can start building a deck on the front. The building inspector was by on Wednesday and we passed our final permit inspection!! Dave was real nervous about that because we didn't exactly follow all their rules, but I guess they took into account that we're nothing but a bunch of rookies here and we really didn't know any better. Hey, so now that can be taken off the "to-do" list. Our new tenant will start moving in the end of April - about two weeks from now. There are so many little things that need doing that we're going to be real busy between now and then!
Our weather down at the coast has been off and on with rain and sunshine and I have been trying to get some weeding done in my flower beds. It has been a little chilly in the mornings but I did get some flowers planted in my planters. The snow peas have emerged from the ground that I had planted a few weeks ago, so things are looking good.
Well, that's about all the news our way. Stay safe.
