IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Our week has been pretty nasty, weather wise. The rain poured down for days and when the sun finally came out, I wanted to rejoice. It was one storm after another.
Sunday was Dave's mother's 106th birthday and so we dropped by the cemetery to visit her gravesite. It is hard to believe that she has been gone for 17 years. We were on our way to West Linn to have brunch with the family and to wish our youngest granddaughter, Jordyn a happy 13th birthday. That is hard to believe also. It seems like yesterday when she was born. Leslie, Jason and Ashtin were there along with Lara's friend, Kevin and two of his kids. A nice little family get-together.
While back at home, I helped Dave pull wire so he could get some of the lights put in the hall of the apartment. It was slow going as the walls and ceiling had been sheetrocked and the wires needed to go inside the walls. It took some pushing and pulling of wires, but we got it done. Now all the lights in the stairway and hall go on and off together. It was a lot of work, but the final product made it worth it. I also helped "find" missing tools that somehow never get put back where they belong and someone can't remember where and when someone last used it. But with my "built-in" radar, I was able to find them. A lesson never learned.
Meanwhile, we haven't seen the Cubans for three weeks. We have had Ray over to do some "little" things that Dave wanted to get done. Ray built a ladder to access the storage on top of the cave. It folds up against the wall and pulls out on wheels when we need to use it. Ray he also put a man door in the big sliding barn door on the side of the church where Dave has a ramp to use for storing his fishing boat and trailers. Because the man door is built into the sliding door, it moves when we need to use the sliding door. As Dave said, he wonders why we didn't to that years ago!
A couple of years ago, we surprised granddaughter Jadyn with a car on her 16th birthday. Well, that Volkswagen finally got to the point where it was going to cost more to repair it than it was worth, so they traded it in on a newer car. So while we were in town last weekend, we were able to see her "new" red Toyota for the first time. Now, we have to start looking for another one as well. Jaysa turns 16 in May! Lara's going to have to start parking on the grass just to have a place for all of them!
We have still not rented out the apartment; the one girl who was the first to inquire came and looked at it last week. She said she would let us know as she had to "crunch" some numbers in her budget. The second girl is ready to move in as soon as the first girl makes up her mind, which should be by next week. We are not worried about finding renters, but we sure wish things would move along a little faster. Even though the project isn't complete, the living quarters are pretty much done and we feel it could be occupied while the crew finishes the last things to be finished.
We have appointments to get our vaccinations on February 11.
Well, that's about all our exciting news. Hope all is well your way.
