IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
It's one week before the big day when Santa arrives. Are you ready yet? I am never "ready-ready" but at least all my Christmas orders have been delivered to the house, so now all I have to do is wrap them! I did get some Christmas cookies made, so that is out of the way.
Last Sunday, Dave was working on the electric panel in the church and he had a wire snap back from where it had been and it hit him right in the eye. It was really red from the injury and he ended up going to urgent care two days later as it was still hurting. They gave him a prescription for infection and since I have an appointment with the ophthalmologist later today as a post opt from my last cataract surgery, he will get to see her at the same time. Just to make sure all is okay. The eye looks better each day so I don't think there was any damage.
The work continues on the apartment. Last week there really wasn't much in photographs - adding insulation and sheetrock, a plug-in for garbage disposal, handles for the kitchen doors and drawers and adding more tile in the shower. This week the new stair treads were installed. Along with Dave's eye injury we have other injuries to report this week. One of the crew, Juan fell because the ladder collapsed on him. Fortunately he is okay. Also, Angel whacked himself in the forehead with a hammer and is sporting a bandage. I hope we don't have any more injuries.
Dave attended his last City Council meeting as a council member this week. He has been on the City Council for 13 and a half years, so it was bittersweet. He enjoyed the experience but he missed getting re-elected by 6 votes. I guess the voters wanted "new blood". It was frustrating at times with the citizens who were up at arms about any progress in the city. Anyway, the council members honored Dave with a "Wheeler" tee-shirt, a gift certificate and a very nice certificate of appreciation.
For what it's worth...Dave was having some ice cream the other night and he opened the carton and found this image etched in ice cream on the underside of the cover - trying to tell him something?
Well, that's about all the news in this part of this crazy world. I want to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and hopefully a better new year! Take care, be safe.
