IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!

It's been a crazy week with dentist and doctor appointments, getting new brakes on the Ford and trying to get Christmas going.

Monday, I ran into Hillsboro for my semi-annual cleaning at the dentist office. When I got to the dentist office and confirmed my appointment for that day, I was told I had another appointment the next day. I was rather puzzled by that as I hadn't received any confirmation. So I explained to the receptionist that she must had made a mistake. Well, after some searching, she found that there are two patients by the name of Janet Bell. One, Janet "M" Bell, which is me and the other Janet "N" Bell. So we got that mix up taken care of. How strange is that? After running all over Hillsboro to try and find some green florist wire to use for making wreaths, I got back home.

Collage Then, Tuesday, the countertop guy showed up with our new countertop for the kitchen in the apartment. That took him quite a few hours to complete and we finally had to tell him that we had to drive to Hillsboro so Dave could get an X-ray at the VA. His doctor had called him and wanted him to get one as soon as possible. We still don't know what all the hurry was about but it did make for another trip to Hillsboro for that. If we had only known the day before, we could have "bundled" and gotten my teeth cleaned and Dave's X-ray all in the same day!

On Wednesday, we had an appointment in Warrenton at Astoria Ford for Dave to have new front brakes put on his Ford. They were pretty well worn and the car needed them badly. Since the dealership is across the street from Costco, we had them drive us over for a couple of hours so we could do a little shopping. I'm sure we could have walked over there but bringing back all that "booty" from Costco required a car, so we just had them take us both ways. That shuttle service is a nice touch. It beats sitting in the waiting room at the service department watching bad television for two hours!

Thursday, I finally had to make a grocery stop at Freddies and get stocked up again. That takes me a couple of hours, as I have to drive to Tillamook and back, which is around 50 miles round trip. So I spend as much time driving as I do shopping!

Tree I got busy and put out some Christmas decorations this week. Just when I got my little tree all decorated, the little twinkle lights blew out! Trying to find a new "short string" of lights around this part of the world is nearly impossible! They're all either 50 or 100 feet long. I need 25 at the most for my little tree. But, we came up with a set (actually, five sets as each string was only five feet long), got them all strung together and we will see how long that lasts! I still have cards to do and presents to buy! Sometimes, I feel like just skipping the holiday altogether this year!

Jan Jan The weather was pretty nice yesterday, so I got my new battery-powered leaf blower out and tried to clean up a week's worth of stormy weather in the yard. Usually I have to spend a day just raking all the windfall - including bushels of leaves - but the blower made short work of that and all I had to use the rake for was just to do a little cleanup. It was kind of tough on batteries (I went through three of them) but they are rechargeable and it uses the same battery as all of Dave's power tools, so all I had to do was pop in a new battery and I was good to go again!

We were able to resume our water aerobics sessions again this morning. Everything was shut down for two weeks because of the latest CoVid closure. It's amazing how much it helps to get the day started with an hour of aerobic exercise in the morning - and how much we miss it when we can't go!

Well, that's what has been happening in my part of the world. Things should get better for me and I hope all is safe and well your way.
