IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
It's been a slow week. Lara and the granddaughters came down for an overnighter on Friday. They hadn't been down for quite a while and it was good to see all of them. It was stormy and going to the beach wasn't an option so we went shopping instead. We looked in the antique store and drove down to Rockaway to shop at this cute store that has all kinds of beachy things in it. Then we stopped and watched the "King" tide come in with the waves crashing on the beach on our way home.
I fixed a turkey dinner while Lara and the girls were here (as the governor put a squelch on our thanksgiving plans to get together with all the family). We were invited to have the feast at Leslie and Jason's but there were going to be too many people there, so we decided to just stay home. I got a "free" turkey at Fred Meyer. The smallest I could find was 18 pounds, so we will be eating turkey for awhile.
We have had some terrific winds and rains these past few days and have not been able to do anything. Even our feral cat decided to spend the night indoors. I was going to go rake up leaves but why bother, the wind was just going to blow more leaves down!
We were up at Costco and Home Depot in Warrenton the other day, I was just shopping for a few things but you sure could tell that there had been a raid of most everything. No toilet paper to speak of! I wish people would take it easy and not grab everything off the shelves.
Thursday, I had my second cataract surgery, this time the left eye. I should be good to go now with 20-20 vision. No more glasses for me and I will feel lost without them.
I wrote that last paragraph on Wednesday before the surgery, so my editor is adding the latest news. The surgery was the first thing Thursday morning and I was home well before noon. I'm thrilled with the results. I'm going to have to get used to having everything I see looking so much brighter. It's amazing how much cataracts dim one's vision.
Leslie and Jason are coming down this weekend to go crabbing and in spite of all the wind and rain we have had, the weather looks promising for them. They are staying somewhere south of here and will come by our place to say "hi" and borrow some crab pots. They are bringing another couple along with them and I hope they have fun and take home lots of crabs.
We had our final water aerobics class on Monday. The pool will be shut down until December 2nd per the governor's CoVid order and the closure will be re-evaluated then. I hope it will be opened again as I really enjoy the class and being with people. Dave isn't as optimistic as I am though. He was wishing everyone in our class a "Merry Christmas" as we left the pool.
Well, have a blessed and grateful Thanksgiving, even if we can't all be together with our families.
