IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Just a shout-out to say everything is fine here.
My sister, Jeanne is visiting us from Colorado for a few days. We picked her up at the airport on Wednesday and then stopped by Lara's place so she could visit with her and the girls. While we were in town, we also made a few stops - Verizon store where Dave purchased at new iPhone 12 and then to Home Depot to get a few things he needed for the apartment project. After stopping for an early dinner, we got back home that evening and all of us were ready to relax.
I am still trying to adapt to Standard Time. It takes me a few days to adjust. It gets so dark out early and it is dark when we get up. I wish that the powers to be would leave the time one way or another.
The fall colors are really showing their splendor and I just love this time of year. But we have had some strong rain storms coming through and the wind has blown a lot of the leaves off the trees. Still, when we drove over the Coast Range to and from Portland on Wednesday, we had to admire all the color along the highway. There were reds and yellows everywhere on our way to and from town. Also, it was a nice day yesterday, and Jeannie couldn't resist getting her picture taken with my very colorful Japanese Laceleaf Maple.
We have been busy with the apartment and hope to have it completed by the end of December, but there is still a lot to do. Our Cubans haven't been showing up as frequently either as they have been busy with projects in Portland. Meanwhile, the countertops have been measured and patterns have been made. They should be ready to install them in a couple of weeks.
It is great to have my sister visit because it gives me something new to do. We went to the local antique stores one afternoon and plan on getting together with her friend, Barbara who lives in Newport. She is going to meet us half-way for lunch on Sunday. We plan on visiting with my sister, Judy on Monday before we drop Jeanne off at the airport to leave for home.
Well, I am sure glad the election is over, but at the time of writing Thursday evening, I am still waiting for a winner in the Presidential race. Closer to home, Dave didn't fare well with his re-election campaign. He lost by 6 votes and was a little disappointed, but he was there for 13 years and now he will have to let somebody run the government in Wheeler. I don't think he will stay inactive for long. He is on the board of the Nehalem Valley Historical Society and yesterday he was asked to be on the board of another organization. In addition, the theater group has opened auditions for the annual holiday season play, "It's a Wonderful Life". Dave wasn't going to participate this year except that they plan on doing a "virtual" performance on Zoom this season. That intrigued him, so he's auditioning. It looks like he will have a lot of things to keep him busy.
That's all the news my way. I hope all is well with you.
