IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

I'm just checking in to give you the news our way.

Cabinets Cabinets We had the crew down for one day this week and they worked on the church apartment. They got the kitchen cabinets installed and worked on the water and sewer lines. As soon as we get the plumbing inspected and approved, we will start getting some of the fixtures hooked up. It seems like a long process, but the guys were real happy with the progress they made on Wednesday.
Bolts I'm not sure when they'll be back, but when they are, they next thing they have to do is "shore up" the floor joists for the apartment. When this church was built, they used 2 x 6's and extended them over the entire 30-foot width of the building - completely inadequate then and now that we're developing that space, even more so today. So Dave took delivery of more than a hundred 7-inch bolts to anchor the additional 2 x 6 "sister" pieces they put in last week. A lot of drilling of holes for bolts and that is going to take some time.

Bilgewater It rained hard down here over the weekend and we had wind gusts of 45-50 miles per hour so things got shook up a bit. We lost our power on Tuesday morning (before breakfast) for about three hours but Dave got the generator going and I was able to make coffee and cook breakfast. Then after the power came back on, I had to go around and reset all the clocks. After things settled down, Dave had to go down to the steamboat and pump it out. There was a LOT of rainwater in the bilge. The rest of the week has been showers and finally the sun came out on Thursday.

Jason’s deer Jason Our son-in-law, Jason has been hunting in Eastern Oregon all week. He shot a wild turkey and a spike buck. Leslie doesn't know how she is going to cook that turkey, probably make soup.

Speaking of Leslie and Jason, I found out last night that they plan to come down this weekend. The plan is that we can celebrate Lara's birthday a little early.

I have been having a problem seeing clearly and at my last visit with the Ophthalmologist, she diagnosed me with cataracts. Well, Thursday I went in for my cataract surgery on my right eye and all went well. I had to be at the hospital in Seaside at 7:15 a.m. As I write this, my vision is still a little fuzzy (my eyes are still dilated 12 hours later) but I can still see. The left eye will be done in November, so it's one eye down and one more to go!

Ballots Ballot mailing brochures We vote by mail here in Oregon and we got our ballots in the mail this week for the November 3rd election. We'll vote soon and mail them back in. It is such a painless way to vote and I wish everyone was able to do it this way. Speaking of voting, Dave and I spent Thursday morning putting stamps and stickers on brochures to get in the mail for Dave's re-election campaign for the City Council in Wheeler. He had to put more of an effort in this election as he has competition for his seat on the council. There are four people running to fill two seats.

Well, that's the news. I am just going to lay low and take care of my eye. I hope you are enjoying the fall season.
