IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

We made it through another week!

On Monday, we had to make a trip into Portland to the VA as Dave had three appointments that day. He had to have his PSA level checked, and visit with his oncology doctor and then his 6-month shot. We finished by 1:00 so we headed over to Lara's for lunch and to bring her five bags of empty soda/beer cans for her to turn in for extra cash. No, we don't use that many, we get them at the local marina. After leaving Lara's, Dave decided to drop by the Apple store to see if he could get his I-phone fixed. Ever since Apple's last update, he has been unable to flip the screen to close an app unless he reboots or turns his phone sideways. After a 4-hour wait, they couldn't fix it for less than $500 and for that they said, he might just as well get a new phone. We said "no" as we felt it was their fault that it was broken in the first place and besides, this one is only a couple of years old. Anyway, we left with his unrepaired phone and got back home around 7:00 p.m. that night. It was a very long day. All that and we still are probably going to have to spring for a new phone for him anyway.

Panorama On Tuesday, the pavers arrived to prepare and pave our driveways. It took three days for that job (one for prep and two for the actual paving) since we had both upper and lower driveways done. It was interesting to see how the crew did the job. It sure looks nice and we have eliminated the need for graveling it every year. This is a panorama, so the whole photo has sort of a curve to it.

I worked out in the park on Wednesday and have the Waterfront Park just about done. I thought I would be all done with this park but I didn't have any volunteers show up to help. Once that park is done, it is on to the next project which is City Hall. The weeds are waiting for us!

We got a phone call this week from Dave's cousin who was down at Rockaway Beach for the week. So we went to see her and her kids and had a barbeque. She was renting a house near the beach with some other friends and the place was hopping with kids ranging from 5 to 15 years. What a crazy place, but it was good to see Tonya and get caught up with her life.

Our oldest granddaughter, Ashtin will turn 21 on Saturday. Her parents are taking her to Las Vegas for the weekend. It should be fun. It sure seems like she shouldn't be 21 already, time as really flown. She will be a senior at Western Oregon this fall, working towards her teaching degree.

With this warm weather, it seems like watering plants and vegetables is a never-ending job. But we are reaping the benefits with fresh tomatoes, green beans, beets and lettuce. My cucumbers are still too tiny to pick and if we keep having this warm weather, we might get a few cucumbers and squash.

Not much to report on our construction project. After two months, the County finally called Wednesday to say that our permits were ready. But in the course of the phone conversation, they discovered that the apartment sits above the storage area and so now they are going to require "fire suppression", whatever that's going to be. Anyway, the permit person pulled our permits back out of our (virtual) hands and said to wait for a call from the senior building inspector. Sheesh! All we want to do is put a couple of sinks and a toilet in the building but you'd think we're trying to build a new home or something! Come to think of it, it would probably be easier to get a permit for a new home.

That's all the news our way, stay safe and healthy.
