IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Howdy there! I hope all is going well your way. Dave and I are fine here.
Dave had a chance to go fishing with our son-in-law, Jason last Sunday. He met Jason and Leslie in Warrenton and went out on the Columbia. It happened around Buoy 10 when Dave caught a lovely Chinook! It came in at nearly twenty pounds and he was so excited. Actually, he was the only one on the boat who came home with a fish that day! Anyway, he brought the fish home and we had a nice dinner. I froze a lot of it for later.
I have been working in the yard and trying to get caught up. It is a never-ending job. I have also been putting in a couple of days a week down at the Waterfront Park trying to get caught up on the weeds there. It is such a lovely park and a lot of visitors spend time relaxing and having picnics there, so I know it is appreciated.
We heard that our fifteen-year old granddaughter, Jaysa passed her driving permit test. She only missed one question! Her birthday was in May but because of Covid she wasn't able to take her test until now. She was very unhappy about that, as you may understand. In a typical 15-year-old reaction, she thought life was soooo unfair. But now that she has her learner's permit, it seems everything is good once again. We are so happy for her. And in the "life doesn't wait for grandma" department - this means that I now have four of my five granddaughters driving!
I have had a lot of trouble reading and working on the computer and just plain seeing. I had scheduled appointments with the Ophthamologist twice before finally being able to see her on the third try. She asked me to read what I saw on her test card and I couldn't get below the top line - which of course is huge! Bottom line? Cataracts. I've known that I was slowly developing cataracts but they seem to have kicked into high gear in the past couple of months. As a result, I will have cataract surgery in October - first in one eye and then three weeks later in the other. So that will put a halt to some of my activities for awhile. I am hoping that my eyesight will be better after that.
Dave drove back to Hammond to help Jason get his camper loaded on his truck. It's really a two-person job and since Leslie had gone back to work, he volunteered to help out. When they were fishing earlier this week, they had a problem with the smaller outboard motor stalling on them. So while Jason drove home with his camper, Dave towed the boat to the marina in Garibaldi to have them look at the motor. He stopped at our place to pick me up and took this picture.
Dave has also been busy working on projects and recording them. He edits the video and posts them to YouTube. Here is a link to his channel. He has two new short videos on there this week.
Well, that's what's happening around here. I hope you are having a great summer.
