IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Things are about the same around here, a little quieter as we haven't had the crew down this week to work on the church project. They still have a lot of painting to do. Dave has been hassling with the County on the building and plumbing permits. It has been two trips to Tillamook so far and just when we thought we had submitted everything they wanted, it has now been decided to give the church its own address. And of course we can't get a permit until they know what the address is going to be, so here we go again! My goodness, all we wanted to do was hook up to the sewer!
As usual, I am doing my best to keep up with the yard work while the weather has been so nice. It seems that watering is the main thing around here. I did tackle the wild roses along Gamble Street this week. I have to prune them back each year or they will take over the whole property. They are blooming right now, so I will cut them back further later. I had started to clean up that area when I overdid it (again) and got my sciatica worked up (again) and so - on top of everything else - I have been trying to take care of my back most of the week as well.
We have the steamboat in the water, even though the engine isn't working right now. When we leave the boat, we take all of the cushions, flags and lanterns with us for security reasons. That's too many trips up and down the ramp for us old folks, so we invested in a nice box we can keep that stuff in near the boat. The Kahrs' are on vacation, so we haven't asked permission to put the box on the wharf, but I think we found a place where it will out of sight and still be convenient for us to put everything back on the boat when (and if ever) we go steaming.
We are sure enjoying the pool and our water aerobics class. Although we can only go on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, it feels so good to be back in the pool. I have noticed too that I am regaining a lot of my strength from having had no aerobic exercise for four months.
I have also been working at the Waterfront Park trying to get the flower beds back in shape. This has sure been the year for weeds! It looks so overgrown that it made us wonder if we had ever cleaned it out before! We have a couple of new volunteers helping so between the four of us, we are slowing making some progress. We are trying to put some time in a couple of days a week as we feel we will never get caught up just one day a week. Everyone who comes to the park thinks it looks beautiful, but I don't think they look at all the weeds like we do.
Our granddaughter Jadyn asked if she could bring some friends down for a few days. So she and four other girls will be here this weekend. They are mostly just sleeping here and will spend most of their time at the beach. So I am getting prepared for their visit - mostly by laying in a LOT of food!
So that's it for this week. Sorry there's not much in the way of pictures this week. It's been quiet and we have been staying close to home. We are well and I hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy.
