IT'S FRIDAY MY FAVORITE DAY!!
It seems like this week went by way too fast! The weather was a little better although we had a couple of downpours. Two of us from the Parks and Rec Committee met up at Upper Park on Wednesday and weeded the flower bed. We are down to two, maybe three people and that is just not enough people to get much done so I have started a campaign to get more volunteers. I sure hope people will step up and help because two old ladies just don't have the energy to get all that done by ourselves.
It was so stormy outside the other night, even the cat spent the night indoors, which he rarely does. The only problem with that is that he wakes me up around 4:00 a.m. and either wants to be fed or wants outside. Of course, Dave doesn't hear him meowing, so I am the one.
My ongoing springtime battle with the weeds continues. This week I concentrated on the weeds below the house, down by the church. Those darn old wild cucumber vines get tangled in my bushes and about smother them. They are impossible to kill, so I end up pulling or cutting them each year. The problem in this location is that they are on a hillside and it's tough for me to hang on and pull cucumbers at the same time! Oh, and then those darn deer found my strawberry barrel too and pruned them back! At least they left me a couple of strawberries. I'll have to get some more deer repellent.
We made a trip to Costco and Home Depot this week to look at kitchen sinks and ranges with microwaves for the apartment in the church. We found a range with a glass top and a matching microwave/vent hood. These pictures are of the display models - the only difference is that I ordered them in white. They were just what I was looking for and the best thing was that they were on sale. So we got them and they should be delivered in a couple of weeks.
I have also picked the paint for the living/kitchen area and bathroom. The living area will be painted "Swiss Coffee" and the bathroom "Ice Sculpture". (Who comes up with these names?) How does that sound? Dave has been working on the electricity which has been giving him trouble, but it will work out.
I had to run into the dentist in Hillsboro on Thursday to get a crown replacement. The one that was in there was pretty old and I have been putting off getting it replaced. They are so expensive, I only have one done at a time. While on my way back home I was stopped by a State Trooper. He had noticed that I was driving erratically and was checking me to see if I had been drinking!! Well, I don't think so. I explained that I was trying to finish a "Blizzard" that I had picked up at the Dairy Queen on my way home and it was melting. He was just concerned because I was heading up Highway 53 which is narrow and twisty. I assured him that I had been on this road many, many times and would be careful. He gave me a warning (thank God) and I thanked him for his service. The moral of the story, don't try to eat ice cream on a hot day while driving!!
I am so excited!! The local pool is going to be opening for aerobics on June 29th. They are only allowing 20 people in the class. Ten of the people will go on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while the other ten will go on Tuesday and Thursday. I got Dave and I in on the M-W-F. Of all the things I missed during this Covid19 was not being able to go to aerobics classes.
I can't think of anything else that has been going on. We are staying home for the most part. I think the kids are coming down for Father's Day.
