IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
At least I think it's Friday. I have lost track of what day it is anymore! It's been over a month now of sheltering in place while this virus makes its rounds. We have had one positive case in our neighborhood, so we are not slacking off with the disinfecting or mask wearing. We were all hoping that it would be over by now, right?
So what have I been doing this week to keep myself from going crazy? First of all, Leslie, Jason and Paige came down on Sunday but we all kept our distance. Paige got an electric scooter for her birthday and she had to show us how she can ride. She received it for her birthday so she can get around the University of Oregon campus when she starts back to school this fall. They just stayed for a couple of hours to get out of their house for awhile. Leslie is working from home and has also been working on a couple of household projects. She put siding on one side of her bathroom wall and repainted it. It really looks nice.
Dave has been working on his "honey-do" list. He replaced the slats on my garden bench and refinished it. My Seahorse wind breaker needed repairing and painting, as the salt air and wind had rotted the twine that was holding it together after all these years. Dave also carved a new seahorse, as one was missing. We got the fountains uncovered for the spring and I cleaned out all the debris collected in them during the winter. Dave has also been helping Luis and Rigo with various projects that they are working on. Rigo has sanded and repainted the steamboat for us and Luis has been insulating the other end of the upstairs in the church. He also put in a double window in the front so we have more light and a great view of the bay.
Sophie, our neighbor's cat (ours when she is hungry), hadn't been around for her meals for a few days and I was beginning to wonder what happened to her. She never misses a meal! She finally showed up with a new look. She apparently had gotten bit by something and it was infected so they took her to the vet and she came back with all the fur at the base of her tail shaved off. She looks so funny. Also, last weekend she brought a dead rabbit home that she had killed. She was so proud of herself. The neighbor's kids were not happy about it as they thought that she had killed the Easter Bunny!
I had a pleasant surprise this week. I received a knock on my door and the UPS had delivered a package. Back in February, I had ordered a daylily that I had completely forgotten all about. It is called "Sound of my Heart" and it was like opening up a Christmas present. I can hardly wait to get outside and plant it.
Well, that's all the news my way. Everyone carry on and take care of yourselves!
