IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
We had a busy weekend going to concerts and having company for Second Sunday Soup.
The concert Saturday night was great! We listened to a rock group called "Eagle Eyes". It was a cover band from Canada and they were doing all the old Eagles hits. We had lots of fun, clapping to the music, singing along and some people even got up and danced in the aisles! Most of the crowd were about our age and could relate to all of the songs.
Sunday afternoon Dave had a ticket to see Mel Brown and his Jazz Quartet. I decided to pass on this as I had to get ready for our company that was coming over for dinner that evening. I knew that if I went, I would be hurrying around to get everything ready. As I figured, Dave got back around 4:30 and our guests arrived at 5:00.
Also this week, we went by to take a look at the memorial bench for Dave's parents that is located at Waterfront Park. The bench has been through a lot. It was hit by a drunk driver a few years back and broken into several pieces. We had a very talented friend do the repairs on that. And then the plaque was stolen a couple of years ago and we just now got around to having that replaced. Some people have no respect! Still, the old bench does look pretty good with its shiny new memorial plaque!
While the weather was cold, it was nice and sunny, so I spent a couple of times this week outside in the yard. We have a bush along the pathway and it was taking over, so I pruned it back. I also spent time at the park cleaning up winter debris and cutting back some tall grasses. At this time of year, there are not enough nice days in which to get everything done.
Oh, I started by physical therapy sessions this week too. I have been having problems with my back and legs (sciatica) and so the doctor wants me to do some physical therapy to see if that will help before she moves on to "Plan B". We shall see, as I have done PT before and it lasts for awhile and then I am back to the same old thing.
With this Coronavirus pandemic that we are facing, most of our travel plans have been changed. We were going to go to Seattle this weekend for the Northwest Steam Society annual meeting, but that has been postponed until May. The play Dave has been rehearsing for has been postponed until at least June. I went to the store to get some groceries and most of the shelves are bare. People are in such a panic. No sanitary supplies, toilet paper, etc. Just so you know, I am not that worried, as no one around here has been sick. We just stay at home and have as little contact with the outside as possible. I have been extra diligent about washing my hands and wiping down the countertops with wipes. I talked to my daughter, Leslie who is planning a cruise to the Bahamas in a couple of weeks and they too are thinking of postponing their trip. It was a graduation gift for their daughter, Paige who finished high school this month.
From the "unexpected expense" department - our printer has been dying a slow death for the past several months and it finally threw in the towel this week. So, Dave bought a new one online and it arrived yesterday. He spent much of the rest of that afternoon following the "simple" instructions to get it running. The old one has been here as long as we have been in town, so I guess it was time. It will be nice to have a reliable printer.
Well, hope you all are being cautious and staying healthy.
