IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Happy Valentine's Day!!
Nothing too new has been happening my way. We are just trying to keep dry as it still is damp and cloudy out. We had a record-setting month for rain in January - usually our driest month of the winter - and it looks like February is going to be more of the same!
We had to make a trip into Hillsboro at the VA so that Dave could get his new hearing aids. He seems to like them and they have some new technology - like Bluetooth built in them.
Dave discovered his old coffee mug collection of all the radio stations that have been stored away in boxes. There is quite a collection and so he decided to hang them up in his "man cave". There are about 100 of them! He had to order a bunch of oversize cups hooks but they got here in just a couple of days and he already has them all hung from the ceiling in the cave.
We had a couple of nice "dry" days down here this week, so the Park Committee got together and we planted the rest of the tulip bulbs in the park. It is kind of late for the bulbs to be put in the ground but we hope to see our results by late spring. The daffodils are all budded out and if we get a couple of sunny days more of them might even bloom too. I bought some primroses and planted them in my fence planters for a little color as well.
We have still had Luis' crew working up at the neighbor's place repairing the roof and painting the inside. Jim also handed them a long list of things he wants done while they are here. I have been fixing them lunch and dinner at our place and a couple of them have even spent the night, so they get breakfast as well! We take good care of them even when they aren't working on our place, because it's hard to find someone that will do the work they do and besides, they're a great bunch of guys. So, I feed them.
My daughter, Lara is bringing her boyfriend down here on Saturday. Kevin's parents live in Siletz (further south on the coast) and they will be up in Seaside this weekend, so they will be dropping by here as well. I am fixing lunch for everybody. I decided that turkey soup would be nice, something that everyone likes.
Dave has also finished his second construction of a trash cabinet for Leslie. The first one he made was too small, so he built a bigger and taller one for her. Hopefully, this one will do the trick and help keep the dogs out of her trash. We plan on driving to Salem and delivering it to her on Sunday. And, yes - it is unpainted. Dave says he just builds them - someone else can paint it. Leslie is like me, she loves to paint, so it won't be a problem.
Well, that's the news my way. I hope everyone is healthy and happy.
