IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Another month down the drain. Where does the time go? I say "down the drain," because it sure feels like it has been raining the entire month. My, we have sure had our share of the rain! And maybe someone else's share as well. We are fortunate we have not had any serious flooding in the area.

Between downpours, I did manage to get out in the yard and plant a few more spring bulbs. I know it is kind of late getting them in the ground but the rain has been holding me up! Another gal, Terrie and I got some of the bulbs planted in Upper Park, but we still have more to go. I think if we ever get them in the ground, we may have tulips in July!

Luis and crew

Gravel

We have had Luis and his crew down here most of the week. They too have been battling the rain, trying to get our neighbor's roof repaired from when a tree fell on it. The neighbors have had to move into a rental until their place is livable again. The crew also fixed the leaky roof in our church so that is done. And then yesterday, Dave went to get a load of gravel and, while they were here, the guys helped spread that on a couple of areas where we really needed it. I have been busy feeding everyone while they have been working down here too. So it has been a busy week.

Elk

Last weekend, I had to take my recyclables over to the center and on my way there I saw a nice herd of elk grazing along the road. This is a local herd that lives around the golf course near where I got the picture. It's the same one that we sometimes see on the island in front or our place. They are such a wonder to look at, although the people who live around that area wouldn't agree because the elk can trash a yard if they decide to go that way. They are not easily spooked and they didn't seem to be bothered when I stopped to take their picture.

Pachinko

I think I mentioned that Dave discovered an old Pachinko game on the neighbor's scrap heap. He latched onto it and has been trying to get it repaired for the past couple of weeks. He thinks he finally has it working the way it's supposed to. It wouldn't pay off when someone hit a jackpot and that was driving him crazy. But he stuck with it and it seems as though he has it fixed. As he says, "Two weeks ago he couldn't even spell Pachinko and now he's taking the machine apart - figuring out what's wrong with it - and putting it back together again". He has it mounted on the wall in his "Man Cave" - which has turned out to be quite the gathering place for Dave and his buddies.

Today marks 16 years since we lost Dave's mother, Lillian. She still leaves a huge hole in our lives that cannot be filled.

Well, that is all I have been doing. I'll probably watch the Super Bowl this weekend. Not for the football, I watch it for the commercials. Meanwhile, I hope all is well with you.
