IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

It's been another busy week at our house.

Table We had to run into Portland for a couple of doctor appointments and then had a birthday lunch with our daughter, Lara at the Chart House. We got to sit by a window overlooking the Portland skyline with all its autumn glory. Dave had made a couple of armchair tables for Lara so that they have something to set their snacks and drinks on. It seems like every time she sat her drink down on the floor, somebody managed to spill it.

Judy, Jan While we were in town, we found where my sister Judy lives. It's in the heart of the Northwest part of Portland - an area of narrow streets and no place to park. We snuggled into a space at the end of a block that may or may not have actually been a parking space, but we didn't get a ticket. Judy's son and daughter-in-law put her in a Memory Care facility a couple of years ago and since I don't get downtown very often, I never had a chance to visit with her. She at least remembered who I was and we had a nice visit.

Step We have also been able to get some yard work done as the weather has been so nice. It has been a little chilly and foggy in the mornings, but nice in the afternoons once the sun comes out. Dave is busy redoing the pathway that runs along the side of the house. The wooden steps needed to be replaced after forty years they were beginning to rot away and even with the tractor, it is a slow process. Our friend Luis was in town doing some work this week and has promised to come by today with his crew to help Dave with the project.

Collage We have been getting a play-by-play of our granddaughter, Paige's soccer games since we are unable to attend. They are in the playoffs and so far they have managed to beat two teams. The first game they won 4-0 with Paige scoring three of the four goals and the second game they won by 2-0. There's a lot of extra pressure now because it's win or go home. As of this last week, Paige has beaten the school record for number of goals scored for the season and once again is up for athlete of the week in the mid-Willamette Valley. She also was the Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year. Yay, Paigie!

Dave Last weekend was the first weekend for the play "Moon Over Buffalo" that Dave is in. I heard the opening night was pretty shaky because a lot of people forgot their lines, but Saturday and Sunday went smoothly. One thing Dave says he can't get used to in the theater is makeup. He's never had to use it before and he's very uncomfortable using it. The theater group will perform again this weekend. I went to the Sunday afternoon matinee with a bunch of friends and after the play we all met for Mexican food. Dave has already landed a part in their next play, which will be a Radio Theater of "It's a Wonderful Life". They did it last year and it was such a hit they decided to make it an annual performance for the holidays.

Sunday we remembered to turn all our clocks back so it has been challenging, trying to reschedule our lives. I wish they would leave the time one way of the other.
