IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Being that it is Friday the 13th, I hope none of you are superstitious, I am certainly not!
Anyway, we accomplished a lot this week around the house. Luis was down and finished up with some home projects. I got my bedroom done and he put in a new water heater for us. The old was about to go out and had many years under its belt. So we decided to get a new one before the old one inconveniently stopped working. This one is a "smart" water heater so we can control it from the phone if we need to.
We had quite a rainstorm this week almost an inch over night. We needed the rain and I enjoyed not having to do the watering by hand. The weather for the rest of the week has been really nice. I managed to get out and finish my pruning around the place. The Azaleas were starting to spread out so I got busy and cut them back. So that means another trip to the yard debris to haul away. I lost track of how many trips we have made this year. It is amazing what a little rain can do around here.
We celebrated our 54th wedding anniversary this week. Dave and I went to Bridgewater Bistro in Astoria for a celebration. I had roasted chicken and Dave had a fish stew and for dessert we split a piece of silk chocolate pie. It's a nice restaurant, and we have it on our list of places to go to celebrate a special occasion. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed watching the ships and boats go by as we ate our dinner.
The next day, we drove down to Barview and found the Mile 54 sign and took our picture. Last year, on our 53rd anniversary, all we had to do was drive a short distance up Highway 53 for the photo. This year it was hard to find a "54" sign anywhere, so we had to settle on the milepost sign.
Oh, I have to brag! Our little soccer star, Paige got chosen by the OSAA as athlete of the week! She scored 3 goals and had 2 assists in her last game with West Salem. We are planning on going to town on Monday and see two soccer stars in our family. Jaysa is playing for West Linn in Woodburn Monday afternoon and we will catch Paige's game that night in West Salem. My granddaughters rock!
My drapes arrived for the bedroom this week. Unfortunately the length was way too long, all the way to the floor. I had given the measurements to the clerk and she apologized for getting it wrong. So back the drapes go for the alteration, so I don't know when we will get them back. Unfortunately, I had taken the old drapes down in anticipation of the arrival of the new ones and so we don't have anything covering the windows in our bedroom.
I had Ray build a shelf to go over our washer and dryer so that things can't get dropped behind them so easily. I stayed with the scallop theme that I have used throughout the house. I am painting it and Ray will come back next week to install it.
Dave has started putting in a new bridge over the French drain on the path that runs by the house. The old bridge was rotten and I expected to break through every time I used it. The first thing he had to do was remove all the old rotten boards and then all the dirt that had accumulated under the bridge! It's a wonder that any water from the gutter could drain.
Our project list is slowly getting whittled down which is a very good feeling. I think we are ready to settle in for the winter ahead.
