IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

A most quiet week I had; it was nice for a change.

Thumb

Thumb

However, we did have a little excitement around here this week. Dave was out working in his workshop when he came in the house to announce that he had cut his thumb on the table saw, straight up the middle. It was pretty deep so I drove him over to Urgent Care and he is now wearing eight stitches and big red bandage on his thumb! It took forever in the emergency room. The Urgent Care in Manzanita is associated with the Adventist Hospital and they had a skeleton crew because it seems like all the "regulars" take Friday and Saturday off. Anyway, this "nurse" who was attending Dave was an EMT and he had a hard time finding the supplies they needed to sew Dave up. But after awhile they got him taken care of and once we were back home, it didn't seem to slow him down much as he was outside working on his different projects almost as though nothing had happened. We did have to report this incident to our daughters. And that's never fun as we always get the "business" about being more careful! At least they haven't taken his tools away from him - not yet anyway.

Jason came down Friday as he wanted help with the electronics on his boat. He and Dave got it figured out and they even took it out in the water to "test" it out. Since it was so late by the time they finished, Jason ended up spending the night. Jason left his boat here with us all week as he wanted to get the smaller outboard motor replaced because the shaft was bent.

Knives

Oh, I forgot to mention, he brought my birthday present along with him which was a beautiful set of carving knives. After he was using my old dull ones the last time he was here, he figured I needed them. I did have to promise to be really careful and not cut myself like you know who.

Thursday was our day to take Jason's boat down to the boat repair shop in Garibaldi to get the new motor. We dropped it off on our way to Hillsboro as we wanted to attend the monthly luncheon of my high school class.
We also wanted to check out the park where we are having our family reunion on Saturday. Once we were in the park, we had a hard time finding the picnic spot so we decided that we needed to make more signs to direct people. I also ran by my cousin, Joanie's house and checked with her to make sure we had everything, cups, napkins, utensils, plates, etc. We are expecting around 30 relatives. Some I haven't seen since I was younger. Also we are having my cousins Mike and Sheryle Wyatt stop in for a couple of nights so they will be at the reunion. They live in Henderson, Nevada and are arriving today after driving up with their motorhome. Also, my sister, Jeanne and her husband Bob will be here from England, so we are going to have plenty of people around. I hope the reunion is a big success as it was a couple of years ago.

I got most of the yard in order (for my guests) and the vegetable garden is growing. The second crop of the snow peas are back, in spite of the deer cleaning out the first crop. I accidentally planted a squash instead of a cucumber plant and so it is taking up much of my garden area. The green beans are climbing their poles and I planted a new crop of lettuce the other day. I gave my flowers a fertilizer boost so they will look nice for the company too.

Well, that's what has been happening in my neck of the woods. I hope everyone is enjoying this nice summer.
