IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
We didn't do a whole lot this week except watch it rain!
The sun finally made a short appearance on Tuesday so Dave and I got busy and unloaded the trailer full of compost - all 3-1/2 yards of it! We put some of it on a tarp in the driveway and the rest went into the smaller trailer and stored in the church for later. By the time we are done, we will have moved it twice! Once it stops raining for awhile, then I will get out and put it on my flower beds. The flatbed trailer is empty now and stored out of the way in the church, so Dave can get the steamboat out of the garage to work on it. On Wednesday, after moving all that stuff, I was so stiff and sore I could hardly move. But a couple of Tylenol and a trip to the swimming pool helped get the kinks out. Thank goodness, we were able to empty that trailer just before the rains came back.
Speaking of the pool, a while back I suggested to Dave that we should get some of those pool noodles like we use for exercise in our water aerobics class. I said we could use them for cushions on the tie-downs for the steamboat. He was using old rags under the ropes so the ropes wouldn't rub on the paint and they looked awful. Imagine getting an old white towel, wrapping it around a rope and then tying it around and around with another rope so it wouldn't fly off. Now imagine that old white towel after 10 years on the job. Yeah, it looked that bad! So now, thanks to our instructor, Nancy at the pool, we're looking much, much better. She found an old used noodle in the maintenance room and gave it to us so we didn't have to go out and buy any. Dave immediately tore the old safety ropes off the trailer and replaced them with brand new line. Then he put the noodle in place of the old rags and it looks soooo much better! The noodle is blue too so it matches the steamboat.
We got our new Jeep back from the auto body shop this week. We can't even see where the dent and scratch was from the rock that fell from that passing dump truck. It was hard to just have one car around to use even if it was for just three days!
Our seventeen-year old granddaughter, Paige had a birthday this week. We just sent her a birthday card with money and she was happy. Besides, she got my old Jeep! I will get together the first chance I have and take her to Red Robin to finish with the celebration. It is hard to believe how fast the granddaughters are growing up. They are all so special to us.
We had our new City Manager over the other night for dinner. She has been so busy learning her job and we were glad she could take some time to get more acquainted with us. A nice gal and I hope she stays longer than the last two city managers did.
I am ready to get my vegetable garden planted. Now, if the weather would just warm up! Like they say, "April showers bring May flowers", but it seems like this April has been colder and rainier than usual. I know, I just have to learn to be more patient.
