IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Sunset

Where did September go? I think I say that every month, but they seem to fly by. This fall has been very pleasant and the sunsets have been so beautiful.

It's been another busy week. Last Sunday we were invited to a birthday party for Taylor Kahrs who turned ten. His family always invites us as we are part of his life. He calls Dave "Uncle" and for his birthday, Dave gave him a fishing rod. He was so excited and now wants Uncle Dave to take him fishing. We couldn't stay long for the birthday celebration as I had invited the neighborhood over for a get-together that evening. We have had so many new people move into the neighborhood and this way it gave them a chance to meet and greet. I also wanted to talk to them about emergency matters and how to prepare in case of an emergency as I am the neighborhood captain. We had about 15 neighbors show up so it was a good turnout. Us

Spider

Before the birthday party on Sunday, we were surprised with a visit from Phil Beard. He and Dave used to work together at the both the Blazers and at the car races at Portland International Raceway. It was such a beautiful day that he decided to take a cruise in his "Spider" motorcycle and come and visit us. We had been busy most of the morning cleaning up the Church, so it was a nice break.

Dave had a meeting with the Blazer broadcasting crew on Tuesday, so we got up early and headed into town. They always have a meeting to discuss the upcoming season, which is just around the corner. It was good to see everyone at the meeting, as I worked with them also. Dave is still involved as he hires the radio engineers when the Blazers are on the road and he needs to know what changes there are in the broadcast format. Dave also had a doctor's appointment after the meeting, so we headed for that. He has follow-ups with his RLS (restless legs syndrome) to make sure that all is well. He is doing as good as can be expected.

I had a doctor's appointment with my podiatrist also this week. Those darn planter warts are not going away so the doctor put some more "bug juice" (that's what the doctor calls it) on it and we will see. I am really tired of the warts hanging around because after the doctor cuts into them, I am crippled for a couple of days and it's hard to get around.

Speaking of doctors, I got a call from my sister, Jeanne in England. Bob was complaining of pain in his chest and tingling in his arm so they hurried to the emergency room and Bob was immediately rushed into surgery. He had a heart attack and the doctor told Jeanne that one of his arteries was completely blocked. The doctor put in a stint and he is resting in the hospital. If all goes well, he should be able to come home in about six days. He was pretty lucky that they went to the emergency room when they did so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

I started back with water aerobics this week. We had a big crowd on Monday but by the middle of the week we were back to our normal regulars. I like going to these morning exercises as it gets the kinks out and I can get around better with this arthritis that I have in my knees.

Church

When we were at Home Depot last week, Dave found a projector that had a lot of holiday scenes that he could project in the window of the old Church. That window faces Highway 101, so he was having fun with that getting ready for Halloween. We had a Santa Claus in that window last Christmas and that got a lot of reaction, so he thought we needed something for Halloween. He has been looking at Thanksgiving videos, so this could be a regular thing!

We are taking our good friends Patricia and Marv crabbing with us today. I hope the catch is good. The last time we went out, we ended up with only a couple of crabs because the mamas and the babies had to be thrown back. Our friends have never been crabbing, so I hope it is successful and that it is enjoyable for them.

That's about all the excitement down our way; I hope you are enjoying this nice weather.
