IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

So we turn another page on the calendar as we say good-bye to September. The days are still warm (with a few days of much needed rain) and the nights are getting cooler, fall is definitely in the air.

I am winding down the vegetable garden. There are a few tomatoes still clinging to the vines and a couple of tiny cucumbers that I think are not going to make it, but we enjoyed the lettuce and beans that my small garden produced. I have been doing a little pruning on some of the shrubs around here noticing that they are awfully dry looking and may not make it through the winter. We will see. I also got a couple of guys to come in and cut some of the trees down along the street that were starting to block our view.

Both Dave and I have been getting over this virus that has been going around. Dave finally gave in and went to Urgent Care and got some meds to help him. He has bronchitis and at times I think he is going to cough up a lung! He is trying to get better as he is in rehearsal for the upcoming Reader's Theater presentation in Nehalem. The performance is in November and the group has been practicing two afternoons a week. I have come up with this concoction of honey, lemon juice and hot water which he takes to his practice to drink to keep his coughing under control. It helps, but he would sure like to just get rid of the cough completely by opening night!

I started my physical therapy on my right hip to see if I can strengthen my gluteus. It only hurts while I am driving. I think a good steroid shot may do the trick but we will see after the PT is over. I started back at the pool with my water aerobics classes this week. The first day I was so sore that I could hardly move! That's what happens when you miss about three weeks in a row! It does feel good to be back in the water though.

Boats

I think fishing season is just about over. We have seen very few fish caught this year in front of our place. Most of the fishermen are catching the fish out in the ocean. Anyway, last Sunday there must have been a fish caught down in front of the Kahrs' dock as all the boats were gathered around the "hot spot" hoping to catch a fish too.

Luis

Luis showed up yesterday to do some more work on the church. His entire Cuban workforce abandoned him to go to Houston to work and he's had a terrible time finding reliable replacements. So the poor guy has been trying to get everything done by himself. We haven't been pushing him, knowing that he will get things done when he has the time. Anyway, he was here yesterday and spent the night so he could get started on the siding on the church. By the time you read this, the old building ought to be looking pretty good!

We are going into Portland today as Dave has a Blazer broadcast meeting. It is hard to believe that the basketball season will be starting in a couple of weeks. We will spend the night in West Linn to see our three younger granddaughters before we head home on Saturday. Jadyn is a freshman at West Linn and is on the dance team. They will perform at half-time during the football game. Little Jordyn has a soccer game on Saturday so we will go see her play. She scored a goal last week and it would be fun to see her do it again.

All in all, it has been a very quiet week and that's about all that is happening our way. I hope all is well.
