IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Thorns

We decided to drive to Delta Park in Portland on Saturday to watch Paige play soccer. The air was really smoky from forest fires and we had our doubts that the coaches and referees would let the girls play, but they assured that they were watching the monitors and if the air quality got into the "danger zone" that they would call the game off. So off they played. The game was against the Seattle team and it ended up with a tie of 2 to 2. Paige scored one of the goals. She plays on the youth team sponsored by the Portland Thorns professional soccer team. We had another motive for going to Portland that day. The girls and their families went together and got Dave a very nice crab hoist for the boat and we wanted to pick it up. So we loaded it in the car, had lunch with Leslie and her clan and then we headed back home.

Also playing on Saturday was our youngest grandchild, Jordyn. We were sorry we missed her game (as it was at the same time as Paige) but she had to call us afterward to tell us she had scored a goal. She was so excited and we are glad that she is enjoying the game.

Luis

We arrived home to find Luis diligently working around our place. He was all by himself as his whole crew of Cubans had packed up and headed off to Houston, Texas to help with hurricane rebuilding. He is really bummed but hopefully he will be able to replace them soon. Anyway, he wanted to get our church boarded up before the rainy weather arrived. You can see, he's working under a tarp to keep the siding dry. He was going to come back this week to finish the siding, but that is still to be seen.

I had the lawn guy come by this week to do some clearing out some of the brush and trees that have overgrown along the road. It was getting so thick that we couldn't see the comings and goings along our road. It looks a lot better now.

Dave and I have been fighting colds, with coughing, sneezing and runny noses all week. We usually don't get colds but this one is really hanging on. We have been pretty much staying low and keeping indoors and resting. He even missed two rehearsals this week as well as his teeth cleaning appointment and I cancelled the work party at the park (it was too wet to pull weeds). I started my physical therapy this week for my lower back pain. That will go on now for seven more weeks. I sure hope the therapist can get me on track again.

That's all the news this week. Today is the first day of fall and it sure feels like it.
