IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Sunny

Last weekend was busy. Dave had an appointment with the oncologist and she was pleased with the results of his blood tests. He doesn't have to go back for another six months. We spent the night at Lara's because it was Jaysa's twelfth birthday. After fighting the traffic to get back from the doctor's office in Gresham to Lara's place in West Linn, it took us about an hour! Boy, are we glad we don't have to deal with the crowds and traffic in Portland anymore. We all went to Red Robin to celebrate the birthday girl's big day and then afterwards, I took Jaysa shopping at the mall. By the time we got back, I was exhausted, as I am not use to all that walking. Now I know why I do all my shopping on the computer in the comfort of my own home. On Saturday, we left early for home as we had a lot of errands to run before we headed back.

Mother's Day wasn't as special this year as the family didn't get together to celebrate because there was just too much going on. The Alexander's were busy with track meets and Prom night. Paige qualified to go to State with her relay track team and Ashtin went to the prom with her friend, Austin. They made a cute couple and I wished that I could have been there. Graduation is just around the corner for Ashtin and we are all excited to be able to go to that event.

Carpet

Slowly but surely, we are getting the house next door ready to put on the market. I finished painting the bathroom and did some touch-up around the baseboards. The carpet people were in on Tuesday and finished up on Wednesday. The new carpet looks great! We just have to finish a few projects on the outside and since the weather is going to be nice, we are sure we will be able to get that done. There is one spot in the driveway where all the gravel has worn away and it's just a big mud-hole when it rains. We think we've got a way to get that repaired, so that will be next week's project. Meanwhile, the realtor will be by today to do a walk-through and start working on a market value estimate. I am hoping we are still on track to have it listed by Memorial Day.

Speaking of the outside, all the blackberry brambles and bamboo that we cut down next door was neatly stacked in the flatbed trailer and ready to be hauled to the recycle center. We hired some laborers who work for our friend Luis and they took the load over and with one hefty pull on the long end of the bamboo that had been stacked on the bottom, they managed to dump it in no time. It was like the entire load was on skis! They were so excited that it all came out at once and in the photo you can see the smiles on their faces when that happened.

I have never seen it rain so hard and long as it did this week. We have sure seen a wet spring this year. I haven't even thought about planting any seeds in the vegetable garden. I figured the rain would rot the seeds. I did get my cucumbers and tomatoes planted. I have been babying my sweet peas as the rains and winds have been hard on them as well.

During the (rare) sun breaks, I did get a little yard work done. I have this ivy on a hill down by the church and I was cutting back some of the tall weeds that were coming through the ivy. While I was pruning, I accidentally cut through an extension cord that Dave has running from the house to the church so he can have some light. I let out a scream, not because I got a shock but because of the sparks that were flying! Dave happened to be right around the corner in the church at the time and of course everything went dark in there and he heard me scream. I don't know who was more scared by all that. He thought the worst when I screamed and the lights went out.

Well that is about all the excitement we have had around here. I hope your spring is going well and keep thinking sunshine and maybe it will finally get here!
