IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
I can't believe the sun is actually shining as I write this on Thursday evening. It has been raining cats and dogs here for the past week This has been the wettest that I can remember in a long time and I don't think we will ever dry out. I want spring to get here, have the sun shine and be able to work out in my yard! Is that asking too much?
We went up to Seattle over the weekend. We drove as far as Montesano which is about 3 hours north and spent the night with our good steam friend Harv Lillegard. Then the next morning all of us drove together to Seattle for the Annual Steam meeting. There were over 50 members present and we had a chance to visit with many friends whom we hadn't seen for a couple of years. We didn't get to the meeting last year as Dave had the Shingles really bad. We weren't able to attend the steam meet in August as Dave had shattered his wrist. So far, we have been well enough to go again. But it is a long way to Seattle for us and on our way home on Saturday night, we almost hit an elk! Luckily, the elk saw us in time to turn around.
The weather was nice on Sunday and it gave me a chance to tear into some ivy that was choking out one of my shrubs. The ivy almost won but I managed to get it cleared.
Of course, on Sunday morning we had to set our clocks ahead for Daylight Saving Time. I wish they would drop that tradition and leave it Standard Time all year around. Dave agrees that we should not change the time, but he would rather see Daylight Time year round. He likes that extra daylight in the evening. We do agree that going around and changing all the clocks is a real pain.
The rest of the week as been pretty ordinary. Dave had a dentist appointment on Wednesday in Tillamook and we had some friends, Des and Donna Kahrs over for corned beef dinner. It was delicious and we managed to lick the platter clean. We love corned beef and look forward to St. Patrick's Day so we can indulge. Bless the Irish for coming up with that holiday.
Well, like I said, nothing newsy and we don't have any pictures this week. I can always wish everyone a happy spring which starts on Monday!
