IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

trailer

Oh look! February is almost over and so fast!

I spent most of last weekend painting the rest of the flat-bed trailer for Dave. He got it all assembled and it really turned out great. It is almost too pretty to use!

We also found out that the bug guy was coming on Wednesday to do an extermination treatment on the old church for boring beetles and termites. So we had to get the rest of the stuff cleared out of the space. We managed to get most of the stuff out before the rains came. I swept the floor and we called it good. We're giving the treatment a few days to dry before we go in there. However, this weekend we get to put it all back again!

Saturday night, we were invited to our friends, Marv and Patricia for dinner. They had invited another couple who were relatively new to the area and new to us too. We had enjoyable evening dining and visiting with them.

daffodils

On Wednesday, I managed to get a work party organized and we (three of us) worked in the Waterfront Park and pruned and fertilized the roses. It was supposed to be a nice day but we got rained on just the same. Not only did I come home soaked to the skin but also with all kinds of scratches on my arms from the roses. It looked like I had been in a cat fight. It has been really hard to get a work party together as the weather hasn't been very cooperative. We usually meet on Wednesdays but this winter it seems as if we have sunny weather every day but Wednesdays. We worked through the rain though because we decided that we needed to get the roses done as they were already starting to leaf out come hell or high water!

Speaking of leafing out, I have little daffodils starting to bud and when I walk by the pathway, I can smell the Daphne beginning to bloom. I love that smell as it signals that spring is on its way.

Wednesday afternoon, we drove into Salem to spend the night with Leslie and her family. Ashtin was playing her last home basketball game and they were honoring the seniors on the team. It is so hard to believe that she is a senior this year and will be off to college next fall. Anyway, they blew out the other team by winning 55 to 14. It was also fun to watch the game because her younger sister, Paige also plays on the team. We also met Ashtin's new boyfriend, Austin who also plays basketball but doesn't go to the same high school. He is going to go to Western Oregon University next year too.

We spent the night in Salem as we wanted to kill three birds with one stone. One -To watch Ashtin's basketball game in Silverton, two - Dave had to get a blood draw in Portland for his PSA level and three - to take in the monthly luncheon that my high school class has in Hillsboro. There were about a dozen of us there and it was fun to see and get caught up with old class mates.

We had a skiff of snow at the house but it was all gone by the time we arrived back home on Thursday. The sun was shining and the birds were singing so all was well at the homestead.

This weekend, we plan on taking in a play put on by the Riverbend Players in Nehalem. Our big social life!!
