IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

I had to stop and think about what I did this week, so you know it wasn't that exciting.

Jan

I spent most of last weekend and the beginning of this week painting the new flatbed trailer rails. Dave had replaced all the posts and slats so I put a primer coat on first and then after that was layer was dry, I painted over that with a black. It looks really nice, now he gets to assemble the whole thing!

That wasn't all the painting I did. We discovered that the frame on the Boat Barn door was all rotten. With this wet weather that we have, it doesn't take long to have things get weathered. And it didn't help that the contractor use the cheapest material he could find when the building was built. So anyway, Dave bought some new trim boards and I painted them too. We also discovered that the casing on the door was rotting too, so we found a place in Bay City that will make a new frame to go around our old door. That's a lot easier than trying to do the job ourselves.

We had a lot of rain and flooding down our way this past week. A high wind storm knocked out our power early Thursday morning. I was in bed and woke up to pitch blackness. At first I thought I had dreamed that I had gone blind, it was so dark. We usually leave a light on over the stove in the kitchen and a night light so we can find our way to the bathroom. Luckily, the outage only lasted a couple of hours, so I didn't have to get dressed in the dark. I did have to reset all the clocks in the house and made sure that I got up in time to go to my water aerobics class.

We did have a couple of nice spring-like days this past week and I got the chance to get out in the yard and do some spring cleaning. I pruned a bunch of branches that were hanging over in the driveway and got my hardy fuchsias cut back. I also got the remaining leaves raked up. My daffodils are beginning to pop up around the bird bath and that is a sure sign of spring. Speaking of birds, the winter flock has shown up at my feeders. The Varied Thrush and Oregon Juncos along with a woodpecker which I named Cyrano. Well, he DOES have a big nose! It is always entertaining to watch him as he pecks away at the suet and all the other birds are hovering on the ground catching his crumbs.

I have a doctor's appointment today. It's a follow-up for my Vertigo. It doesn't seem to bother me as much now and I don't walk around like a drunken sailor any more. But she wanted me to check back with her anyway. My blood pressure has been a little high and so I have been taking my blood pressure each day to see how that is. It usually runs in the 140's so we will see if that will make her happy.

Lara popped on down on Tuesday to deliver the Girl Scout cookies that we had ordered. She also brought the other orders that we had gotten for her. We were at the clinic when we mentioned that our granddaughter was selling cookies and both the nurses went crazy. One ordered ten boxes and the other ordered 15 boxes. That helped our granddaughter with her quota. We don't have Girl Scout troops down here so everyone was glad to buy cookies. The nurses were very pleased that Jordyn took the time to call them up and thank them for their orders.
