ITS FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Nine days and counting! Christmas is coming way too fast, but I am getting ready. I got the cookies made, presents wrapped and greeting cards in the mail. Little Christmas gifts will go out to the neighbors this weekend. I hope your holiday plans are going smoothly.

The weather has been chilly to say the least and we had snowflakes flying on Wednesday, not much but it did leave a dusting on everything. So I have been staying indoors and I am grateful that I am safe and warm. Although when the sun did come out, I bundled up and raked up the last of the leaves in the yard.

Last Saturday, we decided to drive up to Warrenton to do some shopping. Our first stop was at Costco where we picked up a few items. Then it was on to Fred Meyer. That was a big mistake. Let's see - a Saturday in the middle of Christmas shopping season - what could possibly go wrong? After dodging people and shopping carts trying to find everything on my list, we waited in the check- out line for half an hour! My intuition told me that Saturday was not a good day to go shopping because everyone was out, but I didn't listen to myself. My cupboards were getting bare and we needed to stock up on some food. Still, 30 minutes in a line with three people in it...

Dave has been busy all week working on his long-bed trailer. It was getting pretty much the worse for wear and needed a new deck. He covered the rotten decking with plywood last year, but even that was getting a little punky. So he stripped all the decking off and sanded down the rusty frame so he can put a coat of paint on it. Then he will put a new decking on. It's been tough to get anything done though. The temperature has been hovering around the 35-degree mark all week and that's just too cold to get anything done. The weather down here is so hard on stuff if you leave it outside. So as soon as the job is complete, he will store it in the church.

Speaking of the church, we were supposed to have two people come on Monday. One guy to look at the leak in the roof and one to see if we had stripped enough of the Sheetrock off enough for him to spray for bugs. The terminator showed up on Tuesday (after Dave called him - again) and the verdict is that we have to take out more Sheetrock. That is going to call for a work party and maybe we can get some of the family down to help out after Christmas. The roof guy never showed, but he is on his own schedule so I really didn't expect to see him. So goes the life at the coast of trying to get someone to come in and do their jobs! You can't get mad at them or they'll just walk off and you'll never see them again!

I must brag a bit about my granddaughter, Paige. She was chosen 5-A athlete of the year for soccer in the state. She had a great season scoring 33 goals for her team and going on to the state championships. She amazes us and we are so proud of her.

No pictures this week. We have just been too busy getting things down before Christmas.
