IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Burrr!! It looks like Mother Nature is rushing the winter season just a couple of weeks early! We haven't had any snow at our level but there was a brush of snow up on the mountains from the view out the window. We have had temperatures in the mid-thirties and I decided to cover my daphnia bush to protect it from freezing. We had some warm weather in November and some of the buds are forming already. I also have an azalea bush in bloom and I am sure that is a real shock to have the lower temperatures.
We have been busy with the final Phase II work on our Church Project. We got all the sheet rock taken down, the rat's nests swept away and the cobwebs vacuumed up. And yes, those are shelf brackets in that picture of the pack rat stash between the studs in the wall! I spent the morning on Thursday knocking down more old sheet rock in the attic. I managed to fill six garbage cans, so we loaded them in the trailer and took them to Cart'm. That's three loads we have taken over there and we may not be done yet. I think we're ready for the exterminator to come in on Monday to let us know if there is anything else that needs to be done before he will do his thing. After that, we will wait for Phase III to fix the other half of the roof, rebuild the back exterior wall and shingle before it gets painted. It really is really looking good!
We only had to go to the doctor twice this week. That's a big deal for us. Lately, it's been more than that. On Monday, Dave was supposed to get the four stitches removed from his thumb where he cut it with the band saw last week, but the doctor wanted to wait a couple more days so we returned on Thursday and the stitches were removed then. I made my daily trips to the pharmacy this week, as I want to keep up on the medications if the weather turns bad and we can't make it up the hill where the pharmacy is located.
Between all the usual activities, I managed to get the counter-top Christmas tree up, the house decorated, cookies made and some of the Christmas cards written and Christmas letter printed. I still have to gather up some evergreens so I can make a wreath, but otherwise, things are moving along.
The City Park and Rec. volunteers got together on Tuesday while the sun was out, and put up some lights. We received six metal fish from the Tillamook County Tourism Authority to be used to promote Christmas tourism at the coast so we outlined the fish with lights and started to decorate the little tree in front of City Hall when all the lights from the past year didn't work. The tree is half-lit at this time.
We got some wonderful news the other day regarding our granddaughter super soccer star, Paige. She was selected on the first team for women's soccer in the state. She is only a freshman in high school and that is quite an accomplishment. We are so proud of her.
That's about all that is going on here. I hope you are having a wonderful holiday so far.
