IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

”Thanksgiving”

Thanksgiving was a wonderful time with family. The turkey was perfect and Jason made his "special" dressing. We had all the other trimmings and everyone left the table stuffed. It was great to have the whole family come down here for Thanksgiving too.

Lara and her family stayed through Thanksgiving and into the weekend. One of their projects was to get the Christmas lights up on the house. We ordinarily leave them up all year, but since we had the house painted last summer, the lights were removed. When we tested them, several strings weren't working, so Dave drove to Home Depot to get new ones. Even though it rained for much of the weekend, Lara and Dave did manage to get the new lights up on the roof line. Since the two of us are banned from the ladder, Lara made sure that the upper lights were going up, rain or shine! Dave and I finished doing the lower rows after everyone went home. Now the outside is all festive, but I haven't even begun to put any decorations out and it seems like Christmas is just around the corner.

”Thumb”

The rest of the week it has been doctor appointments. On Monday morning (I mean really early morning) Dave came into the house and woke me up to tell me that he had cut his thumb on the band saw and he couldn't stop it bleeding. So after trying to unsuccessfully stop the bleeding myself - because he is on blood thinners - we got into the car and I drove him to the Emergency Room in Tillamook. Four stitches later, we were on our way back home. Luckily, they weren't busy so we were in and out in no time. We got back home and I fixed breakfast and then crawled back into bed for a quick nap before daybreak. The big question asked by everyone is "what were you doing in the workshop at 4:30 in the morning to cut your thumb?" Well, he can't sleep because his restless legs are bothering him and so he gets up and makes sawdust in his work shop and that seems to help. At least until he gets too close to the band saw!

Dave had to go into the Tillamook Hospital to get an Ultrasound on his heart this week. The result came back normal. The doctor is trying to figure out what is causing so much swelling in his legs and feet. He also went back to see his Primary Care Physician on Wednesday and the doctor upped his diuretic pills. Then on Thursday, he had an appointment with another doctor regarding his chronic cough that he has been unable to get rid of. The list of doctors seems endless and he gets so discouraged with it all.

The guys have been busy working on the church all week. Our son-in-law, Jason came down for a couple of days and helped out. He was a big help too and we appreciated him very much. They got all the sheet rock taken down and put in the posts to help support the ceiling. They have one more beam to put in which they will do today. Dave and I made a run to the dump and disposed of eight garbage cans full of drywall, which came close to 1,000 lbs. Once the ceiling is completely supported we will probable call a halt to this phase of the renovation. Next spring we will proceed with more when we have saved a little money.

I am starting to get into the mood for the season, I got the Christmas letter written and cards purchased. I will probably start putting up the decorations this weekend. There are a couple of local bazaars that are going on which I will have to check out too. I have even ordered a couple of gifts on line, so I am making progress.
