IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
We have been enjoying our nice sunny days down here at the coast and are blessed not to be suffering from the heat like the rest of the nation. With sunny days brings beautiful sunsets and the other night Dave captured this sunset. But, the weather is expected to get warmer and I have been trying to get all my watering done in the mornings. The garden is busy producing beans and tomatoes too.
I managed to get my refrigerator cleaned and my dirty oven shiny once again this week. The two jobs that I hate doing the most! We are expecting company over the Labor Day weekend and so that was my incentive
. You know how one thing leads to another? Well, I decided to get a new ironing board cover and I ended up making one because I couldn't find one that would fit. While I was putting the new cover on, one of the springs that holds the cover tightly in place went flying and ended up behind my washer. So I had to pull the washer out to try to find it among the dust and dirt. I never look behind my washer and I was appalled by all filth! So after vacuuming and mopping behind there, I found the missing piece to my ironing board. While I was at it, I cleaned behind the dryer too and then mopped the floor! All of this because I lost the spring to the ironing board!
Dave and I had appointments in Tillamook on Tuesday. He had a Occupational Therapy appointment and I had a follow-up with my doctor on the bone scan that I had. Dave is slowly getting some flexibility in his hand and has been able to spend some time outside making sawdust. He is rebuilding a tailgate to an old trailer - it swings down to the ground to become a ramp. It has been quite a project and he feels he is making a little progress - two steps forward, one step backward. He's hoping to finish this two-day project by today, seven days later! My doctor's appointment was great, my bones are in excellent condition and my blood pressure is 128/70. I have been having trouble with bursitis in my hip, so the doctor gave me some exercises to do. If that doesn't work she will give me a steroid shot. The exercises seem to help (anything but the needle) but most of them I have to get down on the floor and that in itself is exercise getting back up again!
I had our Escalonia hedge trimmed last week. It was really looking wild and the guy did a great job. It inspired me to trim my Pyracantha (Firethorn) that I have growing on the fence. It was planted in 2007 and you can see how much it has grown. It is loaded with berries which will turn red this fall and the birds just love them!
I have to brag a bit and mention that both my older granddaughters (Paige who is 14 and a Freshman and her sister, Ashtin who is a few days shy of 17 and a Senior) made the varsity soccer team at Silverton high school. It should be fun to see them playing soccer together on the same team this year. They have their first nonleague game in September in Eugene. We will be there!!
It's been pretty quiet with the rest of the family. Jadyn and Jaysa have been at camp in Olympia, Washington all week. They'll be home today. That’s all the news my way and hope you are enjoying the summer.
