IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

After the last of the family left last Thursday, it seemed pretty quiet around the ol' homestead. We sat back and caught our breath and got ready for the next week.

We had a nice visit with Leanna's son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Brenda. They are living in Seattle now and came down for the weekend to help Leanna out. The telephone wiring under her house had been chewed by mice and he rigged up a different telephone and crawled under the house to see how much damage there was. He will be down again this weekend to replace the wiring. At least the new phone works better than her old one.

We had reservations to see the TAPA performance in Tillamook on Sunday afternoon. It was a comedy "Tanya, Sonya, Marsha and Spike". It was a story of siblings where two of them had stayed home and cared for their parents while the other sibling became a famous actress. The two left at home were full of regrets and jealousy over the other famous sister. It was really funny when the famous sister comes home to visit and brings her much younger "29 year old boyfriend, Spike". After the play, we decided to get Chinese food which we hadn't tasted for a long time. Mainly because we didn't know how Dave would be able to eat it left handed, but he managed just fine.

Monday, it was back to my water aerobics. I had taken the week of the 4th of July off because of company so it felt good to be back in the old routine again. I also made a run to Warrenton to get a few things at Costco and to stop at the Verizon store. Dave had put his phone on "airplane mode" during the play and when he changed it back over after the play it was really dim and he couldn't see the screen on the phone. Apparently, the brightness got turned down too and so that was an easy fix. My phone drives me crazy as when I get a phone call, I can't answer it and I end up having to call the person back. So the guy at Verizon tried it and of course he didn't have a problem at all. It must be me I guess! While I was out and about, I stopped at Home Depot and picked up some more Deer Repellent which seems to be working. The deer haven't eaten as much of my flowers and foliage as last summer. Then my last stop was at the Dollar Tree to pick up some picnic tablecloths. I was gone most of the afternoon by the time I made it back home.

The Parks and Rec. had our Wednesday work party and our job was to remove all the shrubs from around the post office. The building owner claimed that by watering them, the water was seeping through the foundation causing water to collect on the floor inside. I don't think that by removing all the plants is going to solve the problem because when it rains the same thing is going to happen, but since the building has been closed for seven months due to water damage we decided to go along. Anyway, it was quite a job removing the plants and some of them we saved and others we didn't. It took about four of us to pull some of the plants up, but everything is removed except a grass bush which wouldn't budge!

Dave has been counting the hours before he gets the screws and pins removed from his broken wrist and Thursday was the day! I took him to Tillamook and got him checked into the hospital at 1:00. It was funny watching the reaction of the staff as they read his chart. It was pretty much the same from everybody, "Oh, you're THAT guy!" It seems the procedure they did on him - broken wrist combined with a severed artery - was memorable enough that they remembered the operation, if not the patient. They got him in to surgery at 2:00 and by 3:30 he was out of recovery and ready to come home. They removed the External Fixator, but replaced it with a cast. So he's still out of action as far as driving and working in the shop go - and he is not pleased by that. His next appointment with the doctor is in two weeks, so nothing is likely to change before then. He'll start Physical Therapy at the end of July.

This Saturday I am hosting the family reunion on my Dad's side of the family. We are having this event at Upper Park in Wheeler and I am expecting about 30 - 40 people to attend. My dad came from a large family (14 siblings) so there are a lot of cousins. The few remaining aunts and uncles are either too old to come or have passed away so it will be just cousins. The weather is going to be comfortable and so we should have a good time.

As I said, a quiet week - and not much in the way of pictures. I'm sure that will change for next week.
