IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

Corned Beef

I hope everyone had a great St. Patrick's Day. Even though I am not Irish, this is the one time of the year when I can pretend I am! I'm not into the "green beer" or even a pint of Guinness for the festivities, but I still fixed the usual corned beef and cabbage to celebrate. Dave is no more Irish than I am, but he still enjoys himself some corned beef as well! I remember last summer being in Ireland and enjoying the country and its people very much. Good memories.

We had about every kind of weather there is this week. We had a wind storm with gusts of 50 and thunder, lightning and a whole lot of hail thrown in. Then, when that was done, we did it again! After setting our clocks for Daylight Saving Time on Sunday, we lost power for about three hours and had to reset them all over again! And then the past couple of days, we've had a bit of spring-like weather just to let us know what to expect for the first day of spring on Sunday. Unfortunately, it's beginning to look like Mother Mature isn't going to cooperate, and our "first-day-of-spring" may look more like what we have seen so far this winter. Still, things look like they're improving!

Champs

Winners

We also enjoyed a little excitement too. Our granddaughter, Ashtin is on the varsity basketball team at Silverton and they won the state championship Sunday night. They had a perfect season and had won every game. But we were sure holding our breath on the final game as they were down by 10 at the beginning on the 4th quarter. We thought that it was over, but they played their hearts out and came from behind to win by 1. It's so exciting to be a part of this moment in her life.

It's been a fixer upper this week. For the last couple of weeks, I had noticed a stain behind the upstairs toilet. No water to speak of just a stain. Well, I was downstairs in the bathroom there and happened to look up and noticed a big water stain on the ceiling. Oh oh, I thought. So we had a friend of ours over and he got his saw out and opened up the ceiling downstairs and the installation was soaked from a leak in the plumbing. It so happens that the seal on the toilet broke and every time we flushed the toilet upstairs, it spilled around the outside of the pipe and all over the installation and ceiling! What a mess. But he changed the seal and we are back in business again. He still has to come back and fix the ceiling in the downstairs bathroom where it was stained but wanted to let it dry out first.

Our next project (the front window replacement) has turned out to be not only replacing the window but also the frame work around the windows. The window framing has rotted though clear into the building framing, so as soon as the weather is a little bit warmer, we will start on that. If it isn't one thing around here, it's another!

Dave is still suffering with his Shingles but there is a little improvement - at least I think so. He's not so sure. He just gets so discouraged and wants to get this over with.

Shasta

Food

Next week is Spring Break. Lara and the girls like to get away for a few days at this time each year and yesterday, they left on a road trip to Southern California to visit her girlfriend. They left Thursday morning and they were past Mt. Shasta and into Sacramento in time for dinner at In 'N Out. They'll stay a few days with Cari and her family and then head back home by the middle of next week. Meanwhile, Leslie and her family are going to come visit us for a couple of days. It's one of those rare times when they all have a couple of days without anything else going on, so they're coming to visit us. The weather doesn't look too promising for the first of the week but for right now the sun is shining.
