IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
"April showers bring May flowers". Well, with all the showers that April brought, we certainly have some flowers to show for May. Everything is blooming (including the weeds) in the yard. I manage to put in about an hour of yard work each day and eventually I should work my way around the house so that I can start all over! Dave has convinced me to stop after one hour, because if I don't stop then, I work all day and then I can't move for the next three days!
Speaking of flowers, I have been putting in some hours this week helping out with the Master Gardener's mega plant sale in Tillamook this Saturday. Yesterday, I helped sort 400 tomato plants (they will all be gone within an hour after the doors open). We have a lot of other nice vegetable plants, perennials, annuals, sedums, you name it! I like working in the tomato section but this year I volunteered to pull the price tags off the plants and add them up for the cashiers while the customers are waiting in line to pay. They have quite a system going where the plant prices are color coded and all we have to do is add up the number of colored tags.
I got the itinerary for the Paris part of our trip all figured out. After reading Rick Steves' book on touring Paris - which was really helpful - I think I have just about figured out what we want to see. I think I said last week that we found out that the travel agent had reserved a hotel way out of where we wanted to visit so we are asking her to find something a little closer to where the action is. So far, she hasn't done that. We did get an email from her and she says she's working on it, so I guess I just need to be patient. However, it is getting closer and closer to July 14th, and I can just imagine all those choice hotels filling up.
We decided to go out for Mexican food in Rockaway the other night. We have always liked this restaurant but I think it has changed hands because the food wasn't the same. The chips were stale and the salsa didn't have any spices. After the meal, we were so stuffed that we decided that a walk on the beach at sunset would be nice. It was a little cool on the beach but we had the whole place to ourselves and it was fun to get the exercise. This beach is five minutes away from us - we should be doing this every evening!
Next week will be another busy one. Both Dave and his sister have doctor's appointment on the same day, so we will all be going into town on Wednesday. Then I have another plant sale on Mother's Day weekend to help prepare for. This time it is with the local garden club and I only have to dedicate one day of preparation - Friday before the Saturday sale. This plant sale is a little lower key than the Master Gardener's plant sale.
