IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

I'm not superstitious or anything but it is Friday the 13th. However if you are, just drag out all of your "lucky" charms and make it through the day.

The rain is back so it is time to grab the umbrellas once more. I am not complaining, we did have a really nice run of sunny weather and besides I am already tired of watering my plants, so letting Mother Nature do it for me is great.

Let me think, what did I do this week that is new and exciting? I don't think you want to hear more about me working in my yard although I can't stand to be indoors when it is so nice outside. Sometimes I think God makes it rain just to give me a rest! Anyway, I did replant my carrots, beets and some of my beans. Maybe the cats and crows will leave them alone this time. Dave and I spent a lot of time target practicing with the BB gun on Rocky the raccoon who seems to think that I place the bird seed outside just for him. He even is brazen enough to come up on the deck where I have put the cat food and help himself to that too.

Cleanup2

We had another successful Wheeler clean-up day last Saturday. We had several people from the community volunteer to help and when it was all over, we ended up with two commercial dumpsters brimming with old mattresses, freezers, hot tubs and other trash and another dumpster half full of metal. I swear people hold on to stuff just for us to come and drag it away! I worked the parking lot at city hall and helped sort stuff as it came in. Dave couldn't do as much this year, but he hitched up his trailer and drove while other volunteers picked up stuff from around town. This is the seventh year that we have been doing this and it has sure improved the look of some neighborhoods.

The landscapers were back this week to finish the lower retaining wall. They put the caps on the top of the wall which gives it a more finished edge and brought in two loads of top soil to level the ground. We have one more wall to go and the project will be complete. Anyway, I am now about ready to finally plant around the two lower walls. There is a huge nursery sale going on just in time too, so I am going to swing by there on my way into West Linn today to see what I can buy.

I managed to chip one of my back molars this week. I was eating a cracker of all things and it just broke off! It wasn't like I was cracking walnuts or taking the lid off a bottle with my teeth for goodness sake. It doesn't hurt and it isn't sensitive but I made an appointment to see my dentist next week anyway.

Jordyn

Paige

Of my five granddaughters, we had three of them graduate into higher levels this week. Jordyn went from kindergarten to first grade, Jadyn and Paige made it into Middle School. They are all growing up way too fast! I'm hoping I'll have Jadyn's photo to post next week.

We had some steamer friends drop in on Sunday. Harv and Wolfgang had been down to Coquille, Oregon for a celebration and had given steamboat rides to everyone who was there. On their way home (they live in Washington) they stopped at our place for a visit. We were going to go steaming on Tillamook Bay but the tide was too low and the wind was blowing too hard. Instead, we had a nice visit and we took them out to dinner before they headed back to their wives. Hopefully, there will be plenty of time this summer to join them for steamboat activities.

We are headed into the valley for the weekend. Dave has been invited to join the race broadcast crew for the Rose Cup Races on Saturday. He worked the races for 35 years but told them he just can't do that anymore. So they invited him to be their guest and to observe from the broadcast tower just the same. I am not going to place any bets that he puts on a headset and does a little announcing. Then on Sunday - which is Father's Day - we are getting together with family for a bbq before we head back to the coast.
