IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

We have been busy this week trying to get a few projects taken care of before we head off for vacation in Virginia, Washington D.C. and other places of interest in about a week. I can't believe that our trip is just around the corner!

Burn Pile” WIDTH=

We got a short break in the rain and so the first thing we did last week was to load up Leanna's little trailer with branches from the trees that we had removed last week. We had the trailer crammed full of stuff and we were trying to get it hauled off to the burn pile before it started to rain. We just made it.

Digging” WIDTH=

Since it was raining pretty hard last Friday and all during the weekend, the excavator postponed our next project until Monday. We wanted him to start getting the site where we removed the hedge last year ready for replanting. He showed up bright and early with his tractor and it took him all day to terrace the area and haul off five big dump truck loads of dirt! I also made him dig a trench so that we wouldn't have to dig holes to plant the Escalonia bushes later. That was Dave's idea and I am glad he thought of it as it saved our backs from having to dig 30 holes.

Planting” WIDTH=

Wednesday was a very "active" day around here. After my water aerobics class, I spent an hour working at Waterfront Park, digging and pruning. I had one other lady come to help and she was only there for about 15 minutes! I really need to stress upon the other members of the Park Committee that we are all suppose to work on Wednesday mornings in the park! Anyway, I got back home around noon and started on the next project - planting the Escalonia bushes. After a couple of interruptions, Dave and I managed to get ten of them in the ground. It is quite a job because the plants have been sitting in their containers since we bought them six months ago and are now rootbound so getting them out of the containers was not easy. Then I had to cut some of the roots away so they will spread out after they are planted. Putting them in the trench and covering them with soil was easy after that. Anyway, we got ten of the thirty plants in the ground and called it a day.

Oh, before we called it a day, we hadn't taken Stanley for his daily walk and so we did that. It helped to loosen up the sore muscles from planting all afternoon. Needless to say, we were both in bed early that night and I don't think I woke up until the alarm went off the next morning.

Drying” WIDTH=

Thursday we had to run a few errands in Tillamook which gave us a day to recover from all our hard work the day before. I had to report to the doctor on my weight and was really surprised to hear that I lost 5 more pounds which made me feel good. I'm now down about 40 pounds since I started this program. I'm glad about that, but I feel I need to keep going. I haven't been watching my diet as much as I should but working outside when the weather has been nice has helped me get a little more exercise. Stanley has helped too. Dave and I get out for a one mile walk every day that it isn't raining hard. Anyway, after visiting the doctor, we also stopped at Freddy's for some groceries and cat food and our last stop was to pick up a part for the Kubota. It needed a new ignition switch.

Sunning” WIDTH=

I also gave Stanley a bath this week. He is getting used to his baths and we haven't had to tackle him or chase him around the house to get him in the bath tub. I even got out the blow dryer to dry him off. Is he spoiled or what? He is also enjoying the nice weather and has been soaking up the sun on the deck whenever he can. He is getting to be well known around town. Everyone loves Stanley and stops to give him a pet when they see him on his walks.

If the weather holds out for a couple of days, it will be back to planting more Escalonia bushes. I am also going to go bird watching at Zimmerman Marsh on Saturday. I am curious to see if there are more birds than what I have coming to my feeders each day.
