IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
I hope everyone adjusted to "Daylight Saving" time without too much trouble. It always takes me a couple of days because I am so predictable, I eat at the same time, go to bed at the same time - so boring I am. Then there is setting all the clocks forward an hour. I never did understand the idea about switching times.
Last Friday after dropping Stanley off at Lara's for the weekend, we headed up to Seattle by way of Bainbridge Island where we spent the night with some dear friends, Tom and Marge Kane. We were all going to go to the Northwest Steam Society's annual luncheon meeting in Seattle on Saturday and they offered us a bed for the night. It is always such a long drive up and back to Seattle in one day so we try to make it in two. Anyway, we enjoyed our visit with them around their cozy fireplace and view of Puget Sound. We took the ferry over to Seattle on Saturday and it was such a rare beautiful day to enjoy with only the last little trace of fog obscuring the Space Needle. The lunch was nice - with a lot of steam friends that we only see once or twice a year. They officially accepted Dave's resignation from the board of directors, so he no longer has to make those quarterly trips to Seattle for the meeting. After the luncheon, Dave and I headed back to West Linn to spend the night and to gather up Stanley before we headed back to the Coast on Sunday.
Stanley had a great time at Lara's while we were gone. I don't think he missed us too much. The girls spoiled him and took him for walks. I am surprised that they didn't dress him up in a tutu and paint his toe nails. Poor Stanley will do anything for attention.
The week has been busy running here and there. I had to drive to Tillamook a couple of times this week to attend the Master Gardener's class on Tuesday so I can keep my certification and then again on Thursday to attend their board meeting. Dave also has been running back and forth to Portland for Blazer games. He had a broadcast on Tuesday, Thursday and then again this Saturday. I looked at the calendar for next week and it doesn't look any better. I have to run into Hillsboro on Monday for a dentist appointment and then to Tillamook on Tuesday for another class. We both have to go into Portland on Wednesday as Dave has a hearing aid checkup at the VA, then we have to visit the tax man before we head back home by 4:00 p.m. for a haircut.
Stanley and I manage to get out for a one mile walk each day. We pick up the mail at the post office and then go to the park where he catches up with all the "news". A local artist/gardener did some amazing driftwood sculptures in the park during the winter and it sure adds a little character and beauty to the already scenic view that we have. Speaking of the park, the Park and Rec. volunteers started working in the park on Wednesday pulling weeds and pruning. The weather managed to stay dry for our party and we were able to get a lot of work done. There is still plenty more to do and we will be working out in the park each week for the rest of the summer and fall.
Last week, I mentioned that the daffodils were in bloom. Here's the picture.
My youngest daughter, Leslie and her family went to an invitational basketball tournament over the weekend in Bend. Our oldest granddaughter, Ashtin and her team placed first in state for their age group and her sister Paige's team placed second. Those girls really do great in any sport that they play.
