IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!
Can you believe that it is March already? We have had showers off and on all week and it is supposed to be nice and sunny these next couple of days. So what does that mean about that old saying: "March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb"? Does it mean it is turned around this year? I hope not because I am tired of this rain. I am not complaining that we are going to have some sunny weather as I am itching to get outside and start planting some sugar peas in my garden. My daffodils are about ready to burst and I have daphne blooming on one of my bushes.
My nephew Mark and his wife Brenda were down and spent last Friday night with us. They were in the neighborhood and we enjoyed visiting with them. They already knew Stanley from when they visited my sister in Arizona last year. They just love him, so he got a lot of their attention. They also told us that if we needed a place for Stanley to stay that they would take care of him. I am afraid that they wouldn't give him back!!
On Monday we made a trip to the local Veterinarian to introduce Stanley and to have his stitches removed from his operation for the removal of a fatty tumor. Since he is a senior citizen, he gets those now and then now so the Vet suggested that we give him a tablespoon of cottage cheese and Flax Seed Oil in his food. He doesn't mind at all and I hope that this will solve the problem of fatty tumors. The surgery happened before we left Arizona, so this was the first time anyone from our local office had seen him. Anyway he had his stitches removed and didn't even know it. The Vet is so gentle with the animals that he sees and I really like him.
In spite of the fact that he is a desert dog, Stanley is adjusting well to the Oregon rain although he doesn't like getting his fur wet. We celebrated his 11th birthday on Wednesday and he enjoyed the special treat I gave him. I even relented and let him nap on my recliner chair. He took advantage of that because he knows that's a no-no. He discovered a chipmunk on the deck the other day too and about drove me crazy with his barking. The poor chipmunk was frozen with fear and I finally had to go out on the deck and chase it away or I would have never heard the end of the barking.
I have been staying home most of the week except for a Garden Club meeting on Tuesday and a trip to Warrenton on Thursday to get the Jeep serviced. With all the miles we put on it from our trip to Arizona, it was time for an oil change. I take it to the Jeep dealership and not only do they change the oil fast (I was out of there in 20 minutes) but they wash the car and vacuum it out. It's worth the 25-mile drive up there.
Dave had a Blazer game on Sunday evening and then he had to turn around again on Wednesday for another and then one more time he will do it again this Saturday. He has the road pretty well memorized by the end of the basketball season.
