IT'S FRIDAY, MY FAVORITE DAY!!

We spent the whole weekend and Veteran's Day in the big city and finally made it back home early Tuesday morning (12:30 a.m.). I wasn't planning on going to my water aerobics class that day anyway and wanted to sleep in. But as usual, I woke up at my 7:00 a.m. time. It doesn't matter what time I get to bed, my internal alarm always wakes me at 7:00 a.m.! Anyway, I had lots of things to do so I rolled out of bed.

While we were in town, Dave had a couple of Blazer broadcasts to engineer and I had some time to do one of my favorite things - spend some time with my granddaughters. As long as I have a computer handy and offer to take them shopping, we've taken care of two of their favorite things too. We had a great time playing games on the computer, and I took them shopping at "Justice" (their favorite store) where the older girls came home with new fuzzy sweaters and Jordyn got a "Hello Kitty" skirt. They loved their stuff and I love to shop for them! Jordyn went to a friend's birthday party that afternoon and the theme was "Barbie", so she and her friends got to get dress up and get their faces painted and have feathers put in their hair. Since Monday was a school holiday, the two older girls had friends over for a sleepover Sunday night. That went very well as Dave reported that the house was quiet and everyone was asleep when he got home from the game at midnight.

After I got back home, the first thing on my agenda was to trap a couple of feral kittens that had adopted us. They didn't get fed the night before so I figured that they would be ready for some food. So I had Dave set the traps and I placed a tempting morsel of food inside the cages. Within a few minutes, Bingo! I had one cat trapped and boy was it angry! The other one saw what had happened and darted away, hungry or not. I took the one cat with me up to the veterinarian where "he" spent the good part of a day getting altered and checked out. I brought him home later that afternoon and kept him in the crate until the next morning. Anyway, the next morning after I set the crate outside and unlatched the door, I could hear the two kittens calling each other. Meow, meow back and forth. I am sure it was quite an ordeal being apart for the first time in their lives and it was a joyous reunion. Meanwhile I tried all day to trap the other cat but I think "she" is the brains of the two and would have nothing to do with my idea. So I will try next week when I'm home for a couple of days to see if I can get her confidence back and again set the trap.

I had an appointment with the foot doctor while I was in town. I have been having this pain in my left heel for quite some time and I wanted to know what that was all about. As it turned out it was a tendon that had been irritated and was causing inflammation in my heel. The doctor gave me some exercises to do to keep the tendon limber and he also gave me a cortisone shot. The doctor didn't tell me that the shot was going to hurt like hell, but it sure took the heel pain away, instantly.

Speaking of pain, Dave was out in his shop working on a project when he needed to wipe off some excess glue. He got a rag and went out to the rain barrel next to the greenhouse to get it wet. It was dark outside but we do have a yard light shining but apparently not bright for him to see one of my "half-barrel" planters in the shadows because he crashed into it and really bruised his shin. I can imagine the air was a little blue after that happened. He finished his project, and then hobbled into the house to get some sympathy. It swelled up pretty fast and so we applied an ice pack to it. It has been rather painful for most of the week.

We spent a couple of days at home and then turned around on Thursday and headed back into town. I had an appointment to get my teeth cleaned and a follow-up on my foot. Dave will be busy with games all weekend. A Blazer game on Friday night, a football game on Saturday afternoon and then another Blazer game on Sunday - after which we will do it all over again and head home after the game. For most of the rest of November and December we will be in West Linn. Lara will have her reconstruction surgery on December 14th and will be in the hospital for a week and I will be watching the granddaughters for awhile so we won't be home much.
